Why are AA's the only group in the diaspora who are told get in tune with their culture?

No doubt, but if some proudly announce that they have a strong culture, why are so many in that society doing things that goes against the society from prospering, and they are doing things that coincide with those that hurt them?

In essence you are just saying you have a strong culture to feel good about yourself, but that statement isn't backed by anything

I understand why they do it and proclaim it loudly. They are proud - but they also are told, taught or believe it's something that AA's don't have. It's something they can feel and hold on too - that they think is a "one up" on people.
Not understanding - most of us are content and happy with ourselves and history. I would think they would be able to tell that by now - all they can bring up is Dashiki's - which most Black Americans DO NOT own and wouldn't even try to. And/or wanting to learn about African countries/culture as a whole - just to understand where our ancestors came from - but that's really it.
Even someone in this thread said they "look down on those who ancestors were captured into slavery" - Like really? LOL. Why would I want to be cool or connect with a culture or anyone who looks down upon something that my ancestors - nor I had nothing to do with.
It's like they want us to feel ashamed. True, many do - for some dumb reason - but many more are not - and that bothers people. I know not one Black person that is trying to get down with African culture - whatever that is.

You should get out more. Go talk to some second gen US Arabs or Hispanics and hear how much pressure they get to know and carry on cultures they may not even agree with. Go talk to a second gen Japanese woman whose parents are trying to marry her off to some salaryman who works 80 hours a week and will never love her.

In my own country of origin I get more friction from other tribes than anything. No time to hate on outsiders when my country men can't even get along.
Africa is not homogeneous to say the least so this idea of brehs having some singular minded views of others is the diaspora is quite overplayed.
Let's stop highlighting the ignorant people amongst us as spokes people for starters. Shyt is tired. If anyone wants to believe there is an agenda against them they can continue to live in the HYON isolationist ways. It's no harm no foul no love lost.
