I believe that could make a difference because especially the last 20 years they've cut ALL the electives and extracirriculars out of the city schools in the USA. Kids don't get to do music in any serious way, kids don't get to do theatre until high school at the earliest and even that is devalued or absent at a lot of schools. It's pretty much straight academics and sports as the only things getting any funding.

Denzel Washington was from a private school in New York but some of his first big roles were as a South African activist, a British soldier, a Caribbean police chief, a Confederate slave, and a Mississippi carpet cleaner.

Forrest Whittiker's most acclaimed role was playing Idi Amin. One of Morgan Freeman's biggest roles was playing Nelson Mandela.

Imagine if Sidney Poitier had only been allowed to play characters from the Bahamas his whole career.

Do you know what made The Sopranos so authentic and great? Besides the writing it was that 90% of the roles were played by Italian Americans from the east coast.

If the roles were played by Swedish or German actors doing their best Italian impersonation based off of stereotypes then it wouldn’t have been as great.

Trust me, the real detail oriented white artists that care about their audience, DO care about stuff like this. They just don’t moan as much because they are in the positions of power to make the changes.

First off, someone already called you out and pointed out that multiple films on that list weren't American.

Second of all, why would that matter? You think any of those films are being made exclusively by or for ADOS? If anything it's American Jews that run the film industry and they make that shyt for global profits. Even Get Out, which had an extremely American-centric theme and America-focused promotion, made 1/3 of its money overseas.

Does anyone care when Daniel Day Lewis plays Lincoln or an American West oilman or a New York gangster? When Christian Bale plays Batman or major characters in films literally called "American Psycho" and "American Hustle"? Anthony Hopkins out there as John Quincy Adams or that old West dude in Legends of the Fall, Gary Oldman as Lee Harvey Oswald, Sean Connery as the great American novelist?

It's called ACTING. The whole point is that it is not your identity you're portraying. If you can only portray your own identity then you're a shytty-ass actor.



This is some real self-defeating shyt. The issue in Hollywood is that there ain't enough BLACK roles. We should be fighting for more BLACK films and BLACK roles in Hollywood, but y'all out there like crabs in a barrel fighting over who gets the rare roles that are given rather than fighting for more of them.
