The best players in the league are already foreign. If your hypothetical frenchies was nice they would be in the nba:camby:

No non-nba pro team is beating any nba champ team in any year
You forgetting that if foreign teams played in the NBA they would get NBA revenue and also sign and draft lebron James, hell LeBron James would be allowed to play for Real Madrid if they were an NBA team

They might as well, though. The European Champ has won eighty percent of the Club World Cup titles and hasn't lost one in nine years, and that's a tournament with high variance since it's single-elimination.

And if Real Madrid or Man City played in a league with the MLS, Brazilian, Argentinian, etc. champs from the Americas, Asia, and Africa, they'd walk that competition every year.

It's silly to compare the NBA to European football because the PL, La Liga, and Bundesliga are far closer in competitiveness than the NBA is to EuroBasket, the ABL, etc.

No non-NBA team is beating the Nuggets in a seven-game series, which takes out the high variance of a single game elimination format. It's obvious that the best NBA team is the best basketball team in the world. Not so much with the best La Liga team.
If euro league teams joined the NBA they would be allowed to draft players, get NBA revenue and be able to sign Stephy curry, don't forget that

This discussion proves how irrelevant the FIFA Club World Cup:
The current format of the tournament involves seven teams competing for the title at venues within the host nation over a period of about two weeks; the winners of that year's AFC Champions League (Asia), CAF Champions League (Africa), CONCACAF Champions Cup (North, Central America and Caribbean), CONMEBOL Libertadores (South America), OFC Champions League (Oceania) and UEFA Champions League(Europe), along with the host nation's national champions, participate in a straight knock-out tournament. The host nation's national champions contest a play-off against the Oceania champions, from which the winner joins the champions of Asia, Africa and North America in the quarter-finals. The quarter-final winners go on to face the European and South American champions, who enter at the semi-final stage, for a place in the final.

NBA doesn’t have an official hall of fame. I don’t see a reason why a global basketball committee (FIBA) can’t create the FIFA Club World Cup basketball equivalent.

Yung, you genuinely don’t understand this convo. This is one of the funniest posts in this thread because of how badly you misunderstood it. :dead:

You believe if the LA Clippers happened to have a team in Mexico City and Memphis had a team in Vancouver with the exact same rosters that the accomplishments of the teams somehow would have more gravitas. How does that make any sense?

I agree with Noah Lyles.

The US is NOT the whole world.

And the argument that the best players play in the NBA is somewhat debatable.

But more than that…if the argument for calling it the world championship is because the best players play here, then it’s only true for as long as the best play here. If 20 years from now the best players are in France, does France then get to name their champions “world champions”? Somehow I don’t think Americans would take too kindly to that no matter what they say right now.

Frankly this whole thing just shines a light on how true it is that we Americans have the biggest ego on earth, with increasingly less reason to do so.

Is there any material difference with the New Jersey Nets now calling themselves the Brooklyn Nets? No. Would playing 41 games in London add any English players to the roster?

So this thread is an inferiority complex cryfest. Let it out bro

Says a narcissist with mental disorder. :russ:

I don’t think you know what inferiority complex is. People on the thread with a better worldview are just pointing out the inherent American ignorance & narcissistic trait.

Sport is mostly about competition & entertainment is the perk you get with it. However, with Americans - it’s mostly about entertainment & competition is secondary. Hence people in other climes are more passionate about sports than the average American. And the beauty of competition is that - you’ll have to prove it before you crown yourself - not some hypothetical scenario you created in your head cos upsets happen all the time & that’s beauty of sports.

There was a time when the Spanish football league had all the best footballers in the world from different countries (more lopsided than the EPL today) - with about 70% of them playing for Real Madrid’s Galacticos & the rest played for Barcelona. The only other player with a shout back then was probably ‘Mendieta’ & he played in the Spanish league as well for Valencia. But they never labelled the Spanish league winners as ‘World Champions’ or even ‘European Champions’ & they still had to compete with obscured teams from Belarus & Scotland to become European champs. And after achieving that - they had to compete with teams from North America & Africa to become world champs.

On any given day: any team can be beaten regardless of how star-studded it’s. That’s the beauty of sports. In football, we’ve seen one-man teams like Bayern Leverkusen & Valencia shock the world. Shyt, it happens in the English FA cup a lot hence the NBA just copied the English FA cup format for its in-season tournament.

Also, didn’t Japan just beat MLB allstars in baseball? Oh well, that tells all you need to know about what sports entail. You can’t sit in your coc00n & declare yourself as ‘World Champs’. It’s narcissistic, arrogant & a borderline symptom of mental illness.

The best players in soccer play in England too...you don't hear Man city calling themselves "world champions" 🤣🤣
I’m not a soccer guy but aren’t Messi and Mbappe two of the best players in the sport and they don’t play in England. Ronaldo and Neymar don’t play in England either. Matter fact I’m looking at some of the top ten lists and a lot of the names on these lists don’t play in England.:patrice:

The NBA is the best league in the world and all the best players in the world play there. The 30th best team in the NBA is the 30th best team in the world. What makes this even funnier is that arguably 3-4 of the best 5 players in the league aren’t even American.:heh:
