But the NBA champs are better than all those league champions mentioned.
Most of The best soccer players in the world play in Europe and during the Champions League.

They don’t call themselves world champions because they have only played teams in Europe.

I think the SEC has won the football national title 12 out of the last 16 seasons. Is the winner of the SEC automatically the national champion?

It’s not rocket science. American sports fans can’t understand something we been indoctrinated to believe. Lyles didn’t deny the strength of the league, just that it can’t call itself the world championships.

Good for them. But we know the best teams play here, so Americal or not I have no problem with American teams, announcing themselves at world champions, because teams here will likely smash every team outside the country.

I agree with Noah Lyles.

The US is NOT the whole world.

And the argument that the best players play in the NBA is somewhat debatable.

But more than that…if the argument for calling it the world championship is because the best players play here, then it’s only true for as long as the best play here. If 20 years from now the best players are in France, does France then get to name their champions “world champions”? Somehow I don’t think Americans would take too kindly to that no matter what they say right now.

Frankly this whole thing just shines a light on how true it is that we Americans have the biggest ego on earth, with increasingly less reason to do so.
If they do is the international crowd going to feign fake outrage? :heh: people get worked up over the most trivial shyt.

Yeah it's cause Americans are just myopic in their world view

Until other American sport teams compete against teams from different nations around the world, people will continue to laugh at the term “world champions” when you never competed against the world.

Until NBA teams are 100% Americans like team USA track, your point is invalid

You can call it pointless all you want, but Manchester City is not calling themselves world champions. The Denver Nuggets will.

Is Manchester City full of players from Manchester, England? If not, soccer doesn’t belong in this debate

Serbian Nikola Jokic actually being US national champion sounds much more fukking stupid than calling the best basketball team in the world, world champions. Every track runner is a part of team USA. Everyone’s American as a rule so it’s a terrible comparison anyway
Yung, you genuinely don’t understand this convo. This is one of the funniest posts in this thread because of how badly you misunderstood it. :dead:

Who wants to waste time watching an NBA team playing those league champions in a playoff series?
Not a series.
Cups are never played in series.

In one game anything can happen.

Game of Nikola Jokić does not translate so well to FIBA rules, when the lanes are clogged and there's no spacing...

Also, a lot of US players are not used to more physical game, without all the free throws...

The best players in the league are already foreign. If your hypothetical frenchies was nice they would be in the nba:camby:

No non-nba pro team is beating any nba champ team in any year
