tbh I don't even think Bane is a top 5 Villain in Batman universe. Ra's al Goon and Two-Face are better than Bane too (Nolan messed up with Two Face). If I were to rank Bane...he is slightly better than the Scarecrow, Pengiun level villains in the Batman Universe. I will give credit to Nolan tho as Bane was probably the best character to close out the trilogy with given the fact that Joker was not going to be possible. He picked 3 characters with 3 very different personalities (which is why I always felt that the Riddler would not get picked)...Nolan is a genius.

If we're just talking about movie villains for me bane is up there with Zod from superman 2. The only impact joker had on batman was making him choose between dent and that chick ( but he really didn't know how much Bruce loved her).
The problem I had with the joker in that movie was he did more to mess with Gotham's mob bosses and cops/politicians than he did with batman or the people of Gotham.

As soon as u saw bane on the screen u knew that nikka was no joke. Basically told batman he wasn't bout that life anymore; paralyzed him; threw him in a pit and put a tv there so he could watch his city burn. Than turns Gotham into a scene from fallout; bodies a couple of navy seal cats like they were the first level bums from streets of rage. And would've skilled bats at the end until cat comes in with that rocket launcher. And he did all this while spitting line after line of soul burning ether.

:rudy: yet all those theatrics meant nothing his plan well Talia's failed. He wasn't even the mastermind Bane was just a muscle carrying out someone else's plan. And the plan failed, Batman recuperated, figured Bane's weakness, saved the city, was able to retire, and made a new Batman meanwhile Talia,Ras,2Face,and Bane's bodies were decomposing.
Joker on the other hand actually won even though he landed in prison. He turned Harvey evil, turned the city against Batman, killed the love of his life (which lead to Bruce retiring by the time the 3rd comes around),took over the mobb, etc the L's Jokers cause lasted past the closure to the movie

:leon:

Two-Face was brilliant in TDK.....in fact, everytime I watch the movie, my respect for the character (And Aaron Eckhart) inches a little bit closer to Joker.

Dent : "You think I wanna escape from this? There is no escape from this!"
Bats : "You don't wanna hurt the boy Harvey!"
Dent : "It's not about what I want IT'S ABOUT WHAT'S FAIR!" You thought we could be decent men, in an indecent time. Well you were wrong. The world is cruel, and the only morality in a cruel world is chance. Unbiased. Unprejudiced. Fair.

That bolded line pierces me every single time I hear it.

Maybe he wasn't good as a comic book adaptation, but as a separate entity, Dent was the second best thing about TDK and is very close to Joker in my eyes.

The metaphor with the coin is also brilliant. What a way to use a prop to tell a story. Nolan did something similar in Inception with the spinning top. I think most would prefer the spinning top because the last scene made people think it meant something that it didn't (That it was all a dream). For me, seeing how Dent went from making his own luck by cheating and using a double sided coin, to relying completely on luck using the very same coin (But burned, like his face), really made the character.

It was a short victory cuz Gotham had 8 years of peace with barely any crime or need for batman. Meanwhile joker is rotting away in prison unable to cause chaos (which he loves) and had to deal with the fact that he couldn't turn Gotham into a chaotic/mad city that reflected his mentality. I could see the joker really suffering from that point. He was able to mess with batman and Jim Gordon's psyche but that's about it.

Bruce was a wreck regardless if the city needed him or not. Joker killed the one thing Bruce allowed himself to care about other than Alfred after his parents died. He defeated Bruce, this is were Bane and Talia actually comes into play. Even after he came out of retirement he still wasn't quite the same, the beatdown and loss of his lively hood rejuvenated Batman. By leaving him to rot as the city fell as a form of torture made Bruce as good as he ever was, Joker killed the Bat and Bane unintentionally brought him back. Plus another thing you overlook Bane is dead :russ: whether or not Joker rots in prison or escapes and wreaks havoc is all possible. Bane doesn't have the option

joker is a mastermind he wouldnt fukk over bane untill the precise moment and even if bane had him captured and locked down you think bane would kill the one man that almost did what he did without any training whatsoever, deep down bane admires the joker

This, Bane had to plan all this shyt out however epic, and it took years to pull off. The Joker almost pulled off the same thing with not even half the destruction to the city, and a fraction of the resources available to him.

But The Joker had way more impact in those few hours than Bane had in months, my man Boxcutta explained it better, so I won't go into it, but still the Joker did more with less. Besides he was a glorified goon. Joker was the :boss:
