The 70s bruh? :pachaha:

You gonna bring that up but not even acknowledge that Storm beat WW in a straight up fair on that was FAN VOTED and POPULARITY based in the 90s, but that don't count? Surely you can acknowledge the X-Men brand is bigger and more popular than the WW brand, right? Then it shouldn't be hard to figure that the most prominent female in that brand and in Marvel as a whole has a bigger name than WW.

The thread is about POPULARITY, not NOTORIETY. Google them if you don't know the difference. WW is definitely one of the most well known characters in comics, but she probably does not break the top ten in actual popularity. The Flash is actually the 3rd most popular superhero in DC Comics (based on sales, history, and placement) if you want to get technical. I've made the case the Trinity should be based around Him (Speed), Supes (Strength) and Bats (Intellect) numerous times. :sas2:

But when you add in the vastly more popular Marvel comics characters, and that isn't a shot Marvel is just more popular than DC by every tangible metric, WW wouldn't be more popular than Wolverine, Spidey, Storm, Cap, Iron Man, Deadpool or Rogue.

She is very well known, she is not that popular.

all fair points but all it would take is for one really good, really successful wonder woman movie to be a big hit and she would be right back to where she started.

superman, batman, wonder woman... the dc characters are the archetypes, the icons. no matter how long they go without being represented in mass media, they're always going to have more staying power than the marvel superheroes. like you said they're just on a whole different level of notoriety.

I like storm but if she was as popular as you describe she would have and held down her own ongoing title right now. While wonder woman has has had one for a long time.

Storm has beat Wonder Woman in str8 up popularity contests. She's been in many more cartoons and flicks than Wonder Woman over the last 20 years in particular.

how do you measure popularity though? wonder woman exists on a completely different level of notoriety than storm, one that extends way beyond just cartoons and comics. she symbolizes something more.

which costume is more popular around halloween?

Yeah but why has not Strom had her on ongoing series?
Is marvel just more sexist then DC?

this impact is pretty much all in your head

if she were that popular she wouldn't have DECADES without exposure. Spiderman/batman/Superman movies/series get churned out continuously. Cause they popular and they print money. You mean to tell me DC would leave cash on the table within the time marvel was lapping them. The same DC churning out a new batman series damn near every 3 years? How wolverine hulk and iron man got more successful movies and shows if wonder woman more popular? kill that noise

girls aint into superheros like that bruh.:yeshrug: if the market was potent best believe they would make the cash grab

all things being equal... what movie would make more money, a stand alone wonder woman movie or a stand alone storm movie?

and isn't it obvious at this point that WB has absolutely no idea how to handle these properties? you don't think disney would have churned out a classic or near-classic wonder woman movie by now? :ld:

Bruh, if IF was a spliff, we'd all be high.

IF and WHEN she does that, we can talk. But she HASN'T done that since, so there is no need to dwell on the maybes and what ifs. Frankly, you and anyone who enjoys WW as a character should be furious at DC for dropping the ball with her as much as they have. A character of her stature and ability not having a strong presence in this strong female society is a complete missed opportunity. As it stands now, Wonder Woman is a shell of her former status and I'm willing to bet anyone repping her can't even name her classic storylines. :sas2:

Not necessarily the case as many of the most popular characters don't have current ongoings ATM (Wolverine, Steve Rogers, Thor Odinson, Cyclops, Wally West, Kyle Rayner, etc.). Storm actually had an ongoing until Marvel rebooted their universe last year anyway so...

But that's the point. She's gone 40 years without major media exposure and everyone STILL knows who she is. It's the same for the Hulk. Wonder Woman reaches a level that Marvel is hoping Storm does. DC has dropped the ball for decades with Superman, Wonder Woman and Robin and they're still more identifiable than Wolverine. Marvel only has Spidey & Hulk on the level of the Trinity, and they're a notch behind.

And you can probably thank justice league for that

People know who she is. Thats it.

That doesn't indicate popularity. People can recognize green lantern and flash too. If she was popular they'd be cashing out, bottom line

U sure it was not a mini series?
Wolverine,Cap and Thor are on there breaks.
Cyclops only now got popular but I don't see him in a ongoing.
On the DC side that shyt is a little different.

It was an ongoing but to be fair, Storm is like in 7 other X-titles so its not like that was what she was regulated to.

Marvel and DC characters all go on Breaks, in the old DCU Post-Crisis, even WW went on hiatus with Superman and Bats as well

Cyclops has been very popular for a while now, he has the 4th most appearances of any Marvel character in history currently (under Spidey, Logan and Cap).

True, the DC side is different but DC has less flexibility with its characters as people do not readily accept new characters for the mantles unless the original dies.

:ohhh: I did not know that

I'm also shocked that Logan hasn't passed Spidey yet, but then again, Spidey has been around longer :manny:
