Dwight Clark was an All-Pro caliber WR during these years though....just saying...

He was, but Freddie sure wasn't.

And the whole argument of "Duper wouldn't be an all=pro with Dan" is much easier to be made for DC.

Clark was a 10th round pick while Duper was a 2nd round pick. The only reason Walsh drafted him is because he was the guy Montana worked out with when Walsh worked him out before the draft

Hacksaw....shyt...Kevin Fagan type players that had good years.

Shoot...even a young Bill Romanowski who got jerked from an INT he had in the Super Bowl against the Bengals (2nd).

Marino had none of that.

I straight up agree with you, the 49ers defensive units were very under-rated.

But as far as Marino goes, I`m just one of those fans who doesn't have a lot of love for a guy who makes it to 12 playoff appearances and never wins the big one.

That just don't do it for me, it's a reason i`m not a big fan of Peyton with his losing playoff record and his gift of Rex Grossman

worked out to be another genuis move by walsh bc the chemistry was there...def dont think DC gets that kind of production with any other Coach/System/QB....no disrespect to him

That captain obvious stuff is great to know. But your "Marino wasn't doing it in the playoffs" compared to Joe has more to do with the difference in TEAMS. You ignored that

Joe's the king baby. #1 all-time QB.

Danny should have picked up at least 1 ring if he wanted to be in the discussion.

I`m a Joe stan. You`d be too if he brought you 4 rings. But I agree the 49ers did have better overall teams for their careers.

You blame Dan for not being his team's GM?

I just don't think Dan was as good as Joe, bottom line. Just like how Peyton isn't as good as Brady.

Joe was clutch when it counted most, that's not a measurable stat but it's a real thing.

But if you want to go into stats, Joe's QB rating was 8 point higher for his career too.

Wrong and Wrong.

:leostare:

Why does Dan's passer rating drop 10 points in the playoffs?

Why is Dan 8-10 in his playoff career?

Whereas Montana's QB rating goes up 3 points in the playoffs and he has a 16-7 record with 4 rings?

That's why Joe will always be better, and you can put it on the team or whatever, but Joe had a QB rating of 95 in the playoffs, Dan had a QB rating of 77 in the playoffs.

At the end of the day, this game is about what you do when it counts the most.

Because he was the only weapon his team had and he wasn't his team's GM to get him and their defense other weapons.

It's really that simple and it's clear that you'll ignore these things.

I can't argue with someone, especially a 9ers fan who believes Joe is the best QB ever

but he damn sure is not a better passer than Dan

I was a 49er fan back then. I have an embarrassing photo of me rocking a huge flattop and wearing a Craig/Montana/Rice charactiture shirt back in 88.

No....Montana was not a better passer than Marino.

You seem like you want to make excuses. Like The Dolphins were 52 bums and Dan Marino.

Why were his numbers so good in the regular season and then dipped in the post-season, did the Dolphins switch rosters when the playoffs came and hire Arena Football players?

I`m arguing stats and facts.
