I don't like the term "steal" unless it's actually a blatant rip off (like certain Led Zeppelin songs which straight up jack riffs). Black people don't "own" rock, anyone can make it. And if you go back, bands like the Stones and Beatles treated the black originators like gods. They were in awe of Chuck Berry and those dudes, and helped revive their careers by introducing that music to a wider demographic.

Blues and "rock" lost popularity in the US as pop and r&b took over until the British Invasion. That's why Jimi had to go to London, where he was treated like a god.

White Brits/UK people always acknowledged their black idols but these black blues musicians didn't get any love from masses of white americas. Only the hippest white americans/southern white americans were up on the Blues.

Jimi had to leave the USA because he knew he could never make a career out of Rock music there. In America "Rock" meant white music and no blacks allowed for the most part. Even now when black people do rock type music they don't get any real attention.

Rock can't be compared to Hiphop. Black people abandoned Rock music.
And we will abandon rap music too when those vampires become too much. Everything we do, they take it and make it soulless, and we move unto another genre until the squids discover. There's nothing as odd as white people doing blues or the genres spawned from it.

Hearing Eminem rap about his struggles or his perceived angst in some of the funniest stuff.

Jimi was ahead of his time also. He came back with a new look and took shyt over, I respect that.

The south still loves blues/rock, and there aren't color lines. Them white dudes love that shyt no matter who is playing. Old legends from the 50s/60s still tour down there and make good money.

blacks stole rock and roll from gospel, and it was beef back then, just read about sam cooke's early hits

british stole blues/rock and roll from the u.s.

and then the u.s. stole metal from the british

and then hip hop stole from everybody

good artists copy, great artists steal
Vastly generalised history that marginalizes the architects... How could blacks steal from themselves?

Jimi was ahead of the Brits for sure but alot the stuff he was doing outside of feedback he learned while on the southern chitlin curcuit playing with Blues, R&B and Soul guys. A big reason why he was ahead of the Brits on the guitar was because he had that R&B style they didn't know about like you hear from the likes of Cornell Dupree

I agree because the Blues DNA is all over the music they like the most (Rock and Country & Western)

some church folks were highly opposed to commercial versions of gospel music. one time sam cooked tried to do a gospel comeback show and he was boo'd off the stage, he left the stage crying

with music, everyone steals from everyone. its always been that way. the traditions of american pop music go back further than our written and recorded history.

i do know this:

all american pop music pretty much came from african americans, even country music:
