Thats not what you said at all. I will give you extra credit for keeping your logical chicanery brief though. But if you are for "intellectual freedom" and believe "people can do whatever they want to do", stop arguing the benefits of one party or another. You are trying to have it both ways and its very annoying.

i dont need to dumb down my posts to double my HL fans, ive said what i said, its not my problem if you have bad reading comprehension or if you find my positions inconvenient

How is he being paraded around? This isnt his own decision to speak his mind?

Ummm probably because most people never heard of this guy until he tried to show up :obama: at the Prayer breakfast.

Since then, they have paraded him around the right wing media like a pink poodle.

He is just trying to Uncle Tom-out the rest of the Toms to get that Fox pay check. I don't take this crap seriously. He did good work in the medical field but now he is being an idiot.

Black people do embrace conservative values. That has nothing to do with who they vote for though. Conservative=/=republican.

And I disagree with the "take the black vote for granted" line of thinking. Lets be real at 10% of the voting public no matter what we do, other, larger groups will get more consideration. The power we have now is by aligning with other minorities, that's how we made an impact the last couple elections. Splitting our vote up for the sake of being different will stifle our power. Our best bet is to stay with the dems for the time being, in order to force the GOP to come to us. Once they do we shouldn't hesitate to jump ship, which would in turn cause the dems to pander to us more.

I reject the idea of conforming to any political ideology in America. Politics in America wasn't created for us, in fact it was created to keep us out. So we need to play the game in our own way as opposed to trying to emulate what we were told about politics.

So we can't realize that our vote is being taken for granted... but we can reject the idea of conforming to the society that really doesn't want us involved in politics?

By playing the game our own way - do you mean voting democrat and forcing them to address our issues? Because if that's not what you mean, anything else will require conservative values, not necessary voting republican; but not embracing ideas, causes, issues, and politics that really aren't a concern to our communities at all (which is what we do when voting democrat ; trade support of frivolous cause for social programs)

And herein lies the problem with the political duopoly we face. Its either the Dems who take us for granted, or the Republicans who hate us. Not much "intellectual freedom" to be had between those choices. Plus like someone mentioned, even if we try to flex, we just dont have the strength in numbers to really do much. We would have to be really shrewd, rally together and play up our most powerful regions. We would also have to all band together and act together. Its pretty much impossible.

thats not really true, black political power and influence would increase of black people split their vote and it would cause havoc all over the country, there are so many races that are won with less than 10 percent margin

i think black people should split their votes just for crass political power and just to fuk with the country, but thats just me

I never said we can't realize it, i said that for now that is a reality and the only way to change that is to stick together and bring the other party to us, as opposed to jumping ship or fragmenting our vote, which would reduce the power that we have achieved thus far.

No party will address all and only our concerns. Either way we will be supporting stuff that doesn't apply to us. We shouldn't embrace those things, nore should we run around protesting them. We shouldn't fight the Democrat vs. Republican fight, let them do that.

You keep saying this. But you have yet to explain how splitting a minority vote would increase the power of said vote.

because politicians go after votes that are up for grabs, if your vote is predictable then there is no reason to after your vote

and like i said a lot of elections are won and lost on single digit percentage points, so there is a lot of room to use the black vote as a fulcrum

Its not simply an issue of splitting the vote, its about making the parties WORK for said vote. If politicians realize your vote is already predetermined then both the incumbents and the challengers will not campaign to win your vote. And in Baracks case, you'll be completely ignored once you've casted your votes as well.

What would we gain from that? Conservatives have taken L after L since the Civil Rights era, whether it be through more equitable distributions of civil rights, continual growth of govt (often perpetuated by their own people!!!), continually worsening fiscal standing, the diminishing influence of the religious right.... conservatives haven't accomplished anything for their base in about 50 years, what would they do for us???

You lambast black people for groveling to the left for table scraps, and then claim our path to power is to do the same with the right. Meanwhile the right yields even less power and influence than the left. No, the way to black power isn't through gridlocked political parties.... its through a unified, strong, educated, rich community. We don't need to vote for anybody to do that here.

:childplease:

Politicians "working" for the vote doesnt amount to much but a town hall meeting or two during the election cycle. Once these people get elected they go rogue and throw their constituents in the bushes for whatever special interests buy them out. There is no reason to have any faith in the American political process... all it is good for is rhetoric

If our vote is reduced to only 2-4% cause we fragmented it being "intellectually free" then there is no reason for either party to go after our vote. The only reason they are somewhat going after our vote now is because we stood together and showed them we will vote and stand behind those we believe in. Fragmenting our vote will only remove the gains in power that we have achived, then both parties will go back to ignoring us again. As we vote democrat the GOP is starting to understand that they need our vote to win elections, and their policy will start to reflect that. Until now they didn't need our vote, now they do, we shouldn't give it to them unless they give something to us.
