@Hijo de luna

Im still undecided on swift. I have 12 free miles to ride on it before I have to decide whether to buy it for a month or not.

I don't know how to feel.

My trainer is calibrated with it. I just need to focus my attention to cadence/power. On the road I focus on speed/time.

I know I can ride about 15-16mph and finish 20mi in 1h20 or so. Obviously. Zwift focuses on power so...
I have a power meter on my bike and I prefer to focus on average power moreso than average speed. The variables that lower your average speed ie hills and wind, are great for training and actually help you get fitter and stronger on the bike.

That said, I really haven't felt a need for zwift. My garmin computer has workouts built in with decent tracking on garminconnect. I typically like to watch crit racing on TV when I'm on the trainer. The only reason I would consider zwift is for racing with the homies during winter months.

When I'm out there doing my rides I focus on maintaining a certain speed. I keep my power agency consistent. I rarely if ever use my brakes and my cadence is consistent. During the off months I try to train with higher resistance to make my legs stronger which will result in high mph on the road.

Idk....I like the aspect of daily challenges and network of riders. We will see. I'm not completely sold on it but it's not bad so far.

Met up with the guy that's going to build my bike on Monday, he just sent me the first draft of the geo we discussed. Everything looks good except I like having my stem parallel to the ground in order to run my headlight on it. Waiting on him to decide what type of steel he thinks will be best, then I think the next step is for him to start building it.

I'm gonna keep the headtube lugs fairly simple, but want the seat tube ones to look something like this which he said was easily doable. Material will most likely be Columbus PegoRichie tubing

Gonna have it painted anthracite, have my extremely artistic friend do some pinstriping and text, and then probably add another coat of clear on top of his detail work afterwards.

Thats dope. I want to get a custom steel frame built just for racing. How much is that going to run you? If you don't mind me asking

Trust the process
:wow:
I personally focus on watts/power output. It’s improved my performance immeasurably. Particularly on hills.
Be blessed friend.

I went to the bike shop today to get some work done. They told me I basically have a shytty bike. I knew this already :mjcry: but I didn't need to hear it. I'm just trying to be more active...

I finally been hitting 5 miles every ride

What you got?

A bike can't really be shytty unless it's badly damaged to the point where it would be cheaper to buy new than repair.

Like Frame damage, chipped/broken cassettes, bad rubber and bent rims.

Where did you take it to get fixed?

:mjlol:breh, ride your bike. They're just trying to make a sell. Cycling is a snobby hobby/sport. If you're doing mostly solo rides to get fit, then any bike will do. If you start doing group rides then you'll probably want to invest in a decent bike-something that weighs less than 25 lbs. Fast group rides and racing you'll want a sub 20 lbs bike.

I bought a road master from Walmart a few months ago. I took it to a bike shop. They had Camelbacks for 120. I was thinking I got mine for 20 at Walmart.

Check out bikesdirect.com if you're ever trying to upgrade to a new ride on the cheap. No tax + free shipping, though I would recommend taking it to a bike shop to give it a once over before seriously riding it.

Yeah man. I've said it on here more than a few times. Just ride.

It don't matter if you got a huffy, a roadmaster, a schwinn, a damn target mountain bike.

Don't get me wrong. You can get super light frames and rims, and rubber, carbon fiber seat posts and handlebars, and all this that and the other but absolutely none of it matters if you don't ride.

It's just like cars or designer clothes or even video games. Cats will be like "if you ain't riding xxx, wearing xxx, playing xxx on xxx or driving xxx...."

When you get to the point of looking at pannier racks (which are cheap anyway) and you're like "let me bike to the grocery store" not because your broke, but because you love to ride. That's usually when you realize that other people's opinions dont matter.

I got a boy who has a BMW bicycle and he'll tell you all day about the specs, famous riders that have ridden one, races people have ridden it in...but that dude doesn't ride I mean 0 miles in probably the last 3 years. But he'll talk your ear off about the shyt. We worked together one summer and I swore he rode just so he could come to work and be like ":whew: I rode my bike today!" And someone would always bite "you rode a bicycle today? Like in the bike trail?"
":jawalrus: yeah......" Then he'd go into his long spiel.

Just stfu and ride.
