This post just made me go out for a 15 mile sprint :russ:

Don't get me wrong, it's fine to talk shop. But I encourage everyone to just ride, don't worry about anything, just ride.

There's 100 reasons why a person shouldn't ride. If you're on the fence or don't want to ride you can find a reason not too. Just ride, enjoy it. Whether it's through your city or in your local neighborhood or a designated trail, just go out have fun. Whether you're just taking it easy or racing, trying to improve fitness or health just ride and enjoy it.

And if it's not your thing then that fine too. I just hate to see people talked out of riding or convinced not to ride.

shyt if you have an outdoor bike cop a mag trainer off of Craig's or eBay and ride indoors or cop an indoor bike.

I'm someone that likes building things, so a small part of the excitement for me is taking my newest tweaks out for a spin. However, whenever i'm riding with my friends who often have beater bikes, i realize how little the equipment really matters in the grand scheme of things as long as the maintenance is up to date and the commitment to having fun is present. Learn how to clean/oil your chain, adjust your brakes, and check the true on your wheels periodically and everything else is just an added bonus. You can do all this with a cheap set of allen wrenches.

I will say that having a lightweight wheelset does make a big difference though, with the rim itself being where you want to see savings. The hub doesn't really matter as it's the rotatioal weight that you feel the most when pedaling.

Same here. I would never buy a bike off the shelf. I have to pick every component. I'm pretty savvy when it comes to building things but I still be kinda :lupe: when I'm flying down a hill at 40 mph lol.

So I take my bike to the shop for check-over and tune-up a couple times a year.

I'm just a weekend warrior and only ride when the ground is dry. My time are black so the brake track will turn to silver much quicker if i ride them wet, plus my bike doesn't have fenders and I'm not down with having a big skunk stripe on my bike just in the name of a bike ride. Lots of people ride in it though, it all depends on your dedication. I don't think it makes you any less of a person if you don't, but i do have a certain level of respect for those that do. Whatever you decide, do it for yourself and not for others though. Depending on your pads, rim brakes aren't as good in the wet though, unless your bike doesn't have them and had discs instead. What kind of bike do you have btw?

If it's already raining, just chill. Riding for fun in the rain really ain't that fun. If biking is yours only commute you gotta do what you gotta do.

Just the other day I thought I'd beat the rain. Weather sites said it wasn't going to rain until 3 so I went out at 12:30....the rain came early.

Warm rain and cold rain are two different beasts. Warm rain is fine. It'll rain but still be 75+ degrees. And depending how hard it's raining you can still navigate. When it downpours and streets and sidewalks start to flood, it sucks.

To be honest that's why I started wearing cycling clothes (skin tight) because it took one time for it to rain and my regular lightweight Nike sweatpants were soaked and hanging off me as I was riding plus my shirt..it was extra weight that wasn't distributed evenly, it was pretty miserable ride.

I'm not down with having a big skunk stripe on my bike just in the name of a bike ride.

The bike is the last thing you gotta worry about, it's the big muddy stripe that goes all the way from your ass to the back of your head that sucks. Make sure to keep your mouth closed and the glasses on cause the mud and/water from the front tire will get in your face.

Nothing wrong with the shelf. Just depends on the tier of the shelf you're buying from.

Either way you're going to customize it. Whether you build from scratch and or order custom, or buy from the shelf and put your own shyt on. I used to have a big box of bike parts. I still have some but you sell some on ebay, craigs, or bike forums.

Yeah, i meant to write having a stripe down my back. My swipe must've wrote it as bike.

Just put down the deposit on my frame this afternoon. Dude said he's gonna order the tubing and probably get started in the next couple weeks :blessed:

OK so since I've been zwifting through the introductory period (it's now over, I won't pay until winter time) I've been telling people about it. One of my coworkers wife went out and bought a Schwinn indoor bike. Apparently you can use it for an app called Ride Social.

To sum it up...think of it like riding through Google maps on street view. Theres real routes that were filmed and just like zwift it uses your sensors and you ride through them. There really no social interaction. You can see other riders and where they are but that's about it.

But it's all free. You just download the app, sign up, and download the routes. They have vr too...but I think that's doing too much.

I'll say this compared to zwift where you are sucked in with its large social network, being able to add friends, customize your ride, ride events, all that cool shyt, ride social is very immersive.

I rode the southern California route for about 25 minutes because I was looking at shyt. I was just planning on riding for a minute or two just to see what it was like and I read the stats and was like "oh shyt"... I was in my pajama pants and a t shirt with my house shoes on. No intentions of riding what so ever.

I'd say it's worth a look at, since it's free for android and iPad.
