But seriously, middle school is one of the biggest popularity contests of a kid's life. They have to learn to blend in and keep the more unorthodox interests to themselves, even if it's shows about colorful horses :skip:. Now if it happens that someone else likes it, well, there goes another friend you can talk to...in private of course.

And for the record, I only know about the gif because the little sister of a kid I was tutoring had it on in the background. So what if I chuckled a little bit to the references in that scene, FIGHT ME :birdman:

No person should have to conform to society's rules. look dude you obviously seemed to be one of the "cool" (or fit in the crowd cookie-cutter types ) kind of dudes so you don't really understand

Yeah you can be cool and have a good personality but sometimes that ain't enough. You aren't born "cool", you learn how to adjust and be socially refined. When I was in middle school I was suicidal and depressed just like these kids today because my parents divorced and I thought I was the reason and a close relative died/fam split up, insults started gettin to me more cuz I was in a fukked up place, I was combative with teachers, it sucks when the shoe is on the other foot.

shyt got me sent to alternative school for 5 years so I was in class with people like this kid a lot. Me and my other classmate(the only other black kid) would take turns clowning the shyt outta the students out of anger for our own situation and they were helpless to it, I spent 5 years there cuz for the first 2 1/2 the joy of making those kids miserable was too much to pass up as an inconsiderate middle schooler. But by the end of the experience I was defending those same students and helping them out. When you see people that have real problems like cerebral palsy, kids that ate erasers and got poisoned, kids that are literally move and talk like sloths cuz they can't help it, people talkin to themselves in the open, violent outbursts, it makes you realize you're fussing over real petty shyt that you can learn to get over. Our schools are shyt in general so kids don't learn the type of things they need to learn in order to be better adjusted to deal with these type of situations. If you want those bad feelings to stop you have to learn how to take charge of your life and find the things that didn't work and fix them. Enabling this kinda fukkery won't help, not that I'm sayin a mother shouldn't defend her child cuz she should but she gotta teach him how to have some fukkin nuts jesus christ.

The problem with these kids is they ain't gettin introspective enough to get over themselves. The world is harsh and you either have to learn to toughen up, adapt to shyt, or just keep complaining about silly shyt forever. Yeah ok, the kid has a right to watch My Little Pony, those kids also have the right to shyt on him for it for better or worse. Coddling someone to this degree doesn't help them, they have to learn how to persevere against those things cuz safety systems aren't around forever. It's ok to be a more accepting society but its also ok to teach people to own up to themselves and learn the power they have to control their own lives rather than letting small shyt control them.

I had to edit, it was errors in this shyt.

Kids are cruel.

I'd advise my son to hide any embarrassing interest that he may have.

Sure I think that kids need to be more accepting but until that happens why be a target. :manny:

Or teach them how to defend themselves and don't let no one punk them as well teach them about having self-esteem.

I agree with revo, to some degree, not all your interests or thoughts have to be shared with everyone this is a life lessons and I think, part of the formation of personality and personhood, but society should avowedly and staunchly protect the individual's right to safely be different and express their differences.

Glad to see you guys get it

:salute:

:wtf:

So 11 year olds should be watching My Little Pony? Come on breh, this is just ridiculous. I'm not sayin it's cool for them to push the kid to suicide but clearly somebody let him down to begin with for him to be at such an impasse.

I'm okay with 11 year olds watching whatever kids show they want. I don't know about should but they could if they want.

I don't understand how any male can be entertained by that show. If he was acting like one of those "bronies" he pretty much put himself in that position to be a target. The crazy thing is that "bronies" have no shame about liking the show but at the same time will vehemently deny that the show appeals to little girls'. It's pretty pathetic.

And what does being a "liberal" have to do with someone's kid watching a TV show that he most likely start watching on his own?

Yeah, but that kid should also know that watching certain kids shows gon have people lookin at you sideways. Funny enough when I was in alternative school there was a student that was cool as hell but nikkaz found out that he watched Sesame Street and Barney so we started clowning him and he fukkin snapped. Of course lookin back on it as an adult it wasn't a good thing to do. But if you watch shyt like that you better learn how to be discreet.

That's the thing. This whole "brony" movement is trying to normalize grown men watching a little girls' show. They even have a convention. :dead:

EVERYBODY conforms to society's rules EVERYDAY.

I agree he shouldn't have to change but if he's gonna be "different" he should be ready for what that brings.

Of course, kids are pretty much miniature psychotics so that's how shyt's going to be. I think it's okay to be to your kid "listen, you can like whatever you like but just be aware that people out there aren't always going to respond so positively to it." It's possible to hold that opinion and to also think that this kid did nothing wrong.

Society created by sick individuals created a hostile environment to children growing up. It's easy for many to see political sides of the argument but have to really look into the child's home-life first. Why is "My Little Pony" the only show the kid watches? Where is the father in the situation? How does his mother treat him?.
