So you agree that it was stupid to clown him, but the problem was really him all along.

:what:

Not exactly.

Its the kids right to watch whatever he wants, however its also the right of his peers to tell em how they feel. My point is in these situations everyone is culpable. The bullies are being unreasonably harsh since this kid wants to commit that. But the kid also needs better coping mechanisms rather than attempting to kill himself over a TV show. And parents, as well as some people on here, are enabling this weak minded behavior cuz we're quick to be protective rather than believing for a moment that temporarily weak people like this kid can't learn to get over it and toughen up.

lol@justifying an 11 year old watching my little pony. I can already tell when I have kids they gon be bullies without even trying.

Telling people to get over it and toughen up is actually the wrong way to combat bullying.

But it's their God-given right to verbally harass people!

You see the same fukked-up logic in some of these rape cases.

It's not "let's teach these young men how to not act like deviants," but "these girls need to stop getting drunk."

What is the problem with liking a tv show? :what: It's a tv show. We're not talking about wearing a dress to school, we're talking about a tv show. Middle schoolers and high schoolers watching My Little Pony or Sesame Street... Grown men watching wrestling and reading comic books, who cares?

Bro, but it isn't just "a TV show" to his age group. This is where social awareness comes into play. To his immature age group him watching such a show means he is a puccy, it's that simple. The kid honestly seems to be too soft. I know in your liberal fantasy world that such a thing shouldn't exist, but just as you can say someone is being too hard, the opposite can also be true. Indeed, someone can be too soft. Someone needs to toughen that boy up it seems.

The problem was probably that he was that type of male MLP fan who made his identity revolve around ponies. Those people are on the internet and it's the most obnoxious thing that someone can do.

People like to pretend you can't do both. Sure rapist should be condemned and punished and young men should be tought not to be deviants. But I'm damn sure gonna teach my daughter not to get drunk and hang around a bunch of frat boys.

Same goes for bullying. You can condemn it untill your blue in the face, but that won't help anyone who's currently being bullied. Truly the only way to avoid being bullied is to be strong within yourself.

He's an 11-year old boy and you're conflating him with grown men that base their identities around the show. You have no way of knowing that's what he's actually like, as opposed to an 11-year old that likes a kids show.

It happens with the young boys too.

you guys will hate this but society is moving towards getting rid of these gender roles. guys can play with barbies, girls with GI Joes. Not saying I agree or disagree it's just the paradigm shift.

Eh, I think we're a ways off from there. Like people are starting to recognize that gendering certain things, like Lego or pens, is ridiculous as fukk but I don't know if that means that tomorrow everyone's going to accept boys playing with Barbies. I think it's definitely moving that way though, just not very quickly.

Yeah, I agree. I didn't mean to imply it's happening tomorrow.
