The gap in rebounding, especially in the playoffs isn't big enough to just look past Dirk's ability to black out during a game. Yeah KG plays great defense, but if you don't have a number 1 with him you might as well forget about winning a series, where as with Dirk we all saw him carry a team to a title. I mean, if you swapped them I think Dirk still has more success, that Mavs team from 2011 isn't winning a title with a prime KG as their number 1, he just didn't apply that type of pressure on a defense.

I've always felt KG is the ultimate complimentary player, had he been with Kobe, LeBron, Wade during his prime they'd win title after title. He needs a clear cut number 1 with him to be at his best, someone that can take over a game when he is reluctant to do so. Dirk has many many more impressive playoff games under his belt than KG.

That '08 Celtics team isn't winning a title with Dirk instead of Garnett though, because he didn't apply that type of defensive pressure on the offense. :yeshrug:

This shyt works both ways. These two are on the same level of skill/effectiveness to me, they're just two pretty different players.

This is just bullshyt here. You think Sabonis/Nowitzki are much superior offensively to Garnett because they're Euros and shoot three pointers? :mjpls:

And a whole lot of other shyt too. Sabonis was Magic Johnson at the 5. Unbelievable passing skills. It's a shame he didn't spend his prime on the bigger stage of the NBA.

Dirk is a 7 footer who can fade from anywhere.

Dirk for sure is a superior offensive player. I'm speculating somewhat on Sabonis because he was pretty much in decline by the time he got here but even an old, overweight Sabonis with bad knees showed more skill than any American big I've ever seen.

Garnett's claim to fame is defense. Stick to that because you sound ridiculous saying Garnett has an equal or better offensive repertoire than Dirk.

That Celtic team with Dirk would still win the title, Dirk has been on a top 5 defensive team before, and with him out there dropping 40 on peoples heads, you'd have less pressure on Allen and Pierce offensively.

I don't know why KG gets a pass for his playoff performances, for a player of his talent level there's no excuse for his playoff numbers dropping.

Man, HELLLLLL no!

Dirk has been on a top five defensive team, Garnett ANCHORS a top five defensive squad. KG brings an intensity to your defense that Dirk simply doesn't and can't, and you can trust him as your last line of the D. But at least had Dirk played on those Celts teams Kendrick Perkins never would have gotten the ego he got from living off of Garnett.

Not to mention KG's passiveness on offense works on a team with Paul Pierce and Ray Allen, and I'm not sure how another dominant scorer like Dirk fits in there (even though he's not ball dominant so it probably wouldn't be a problem).

Dirk has played on several top 10 defensive teams, doesn't matter if he anchors them or not, the point is he's not a liability defensively. The drop off in defense when KG was hurt wasn't huge, the Celtics were still a top defensive squad even with him out. And in 07/08 they had a ton of trouble scoring in the playoffs, even though KG was taking a lot of shots he wasn't very efficient offensively. What Dirk would have given them offensively would have been huge, and the drop off in defense wouldn't have killed them, especially when you look at all the teams they played when they won their title.

Not to mention KG's passiveness on offense works on a team with Paul Pierce and Ray Allen, and I'm not sure how another dominant scorer like Dirk fits in there (even though he's not ball dominant so it probably wouldn't be a problem).

They'd take a back seat to him offensively.

Nowitzki is a better offensive player than KG, mainly because he's more aggressive and not as unselfish, but minus range KG has in the range - either slightly/much better or slightly lesser - of all of the skills Dirk has.

KG unselfish...more like afraid to take the big shot in crunch time. :laff:
