damn, seeing Malta choose Dirk over Garnett is enough to make me rethink my stance

Does defense come into the equation when deciding if one player is better than another? How about rebounding and assists? Or do we just take in to account the scoring abilities of the players in question?

The gap in rebounding, especially in the playoffs isn't big enough to just look past Dirk's ability to black out during a game. Yeah KG plays great defense, but if you don't have a number 1 with him you might as well forget about winning a series, where as with Dirk we all saw him carry a team to a title. I mean, if you swapped them I think Dirk still has more success, that Mavs team from 2011 isn't winning a title with a prime KG as their number 1, he just didn't apply that type of pressure on a defense.


I've always felt KG is the ultimate complimentary player, had he been with Kobe, LeBron, Wade during his prime they'd win title after title. He needs a clear cut number 1 with him to be at his best, someone that can take over a game when he is reluctant to do so. Dirk has many many more impressive playoff games under his belt than KG.

Dirk is better than KG and it's not even a question. KG has always been afraid to take the big shot at the end of games. Only thing is KG better than Dirk at is defense.

I can't get past the defense though. You know Avery Johnson was basically fired because Dirk didn't want to play defense. Avery was trying to instill a defense first mentality into the team and Dirk was not having that shyt, he didn't like it one bit. It got the point that local radio would openly talk about getting players around Dirk that could play defense instead of HIM actually playing defense.

Dirk always did blackout when it came to the playoffs though, numbers jumped up across the board, which is why I was always confused when people labeled him a choker

Dirk's defense improved under Carlisle, he's not a liability defensively and hasn't been since Rick took over. Avery just yells and screams, I'd get tired of that nikka too.

Defense is an entirely different story. But in terms of offensive skill set, Garnett isn't even close to those Euros.

This is just bullshyt here. You think Sabonis/Nowitzki are much superior offensively to Garnett because they're Euros and shoot three pointers?

Nowitzki is a better offensive player than KG, mainly because he's more aggressive and not as unselfish, but minus range KG has in the range - either slightly/much better or slightly lesser - of all of the skills Dirk has.
