Cash money? :mjlol:
You musta been a sperm in 99’ because every Cash Money release went platinum instantly in 99’. Nas went plat too, but Nastradamus was panned as the worst Nas album of all time. Jay went plat too but he didn’t drop his album until the last few days of 99’. There were no bigger singles than “Back that Ass Up”, “Bling Bling” in 99’. Whenever anybody think of 99’ they think of Juve shouting out Cash Money for the 99 and the 2000. :dahell:

400 degreez had dropped the year prior, and juvie, BG, Wayne, and the entire group all dropped albums in 99. The Box a music channel where viewers called in to request, stayed playing their videos most of the time during that entire summer. their singles were running the airwaves that time.

The year I graduated from Morehouse (1993). I had so much fun in Athens, Ga gong to the Supply Corps School by day, and UGA by night (well the nights I did not have duty). So many sisters there, my time was constantly filled up with fun. Too bad it only lasted for 6months.

*Personally* 98 was GOAT for me.

Musically you see west coast hip hop on the decline after the death of Pac and Death Row Records being an after thought. (Dre goes MIA, Cube doing movies, Snoop goes to No Limit)

No Limit records was dominating everywhere.

We start seeing the rise in the NEW Def Jam era (ie Jay-Z, DMX, Ja Rule, Red and Meth) Bad Boy maintains their reign after Death Row ends (Mase, Lox, Lil Kim).

Hip-Hop hood classics (I Got The Hook-Up, The Player’s Club, Belly)

Great year imho
As a kid great year too

WWF and Stone Cold and The Rock were HUGE at the time...and WCW was still competitive..Though I got bored of Goldberg early:russell:

shyt I remember having a tomagotchi being a thing in 1998...

Pokémon cards.....

I used to have borrow albums with cursing from My homie...he had all the Ruff Ryders and No Limit shyt...

Meanwhile my mom got me shyt like Big Willie style and Ll Cool J shyt from walmart:mjgrin:

The best years were from 1995-97. So peak was 1996. But as you know we had two very big losses in 1996 & 1997 :to: so I voted 1995. 1995 still had everything...

1999 was the year I officially left home and became a man, so that year is special to me. You forgot that Mos dropped Black on Both Sides, Soundbombing II dropped, Chronic 2001, Operation Doomsday, Kool Keith dropped Black Elvis, Lookpack dropped the Antidote and I was a big fan of Likwit Crews freestyles before that…
