4. Justin Herbert
It's time for this guy to validate that he's one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, Top 5. Here's a fact of life----->great QBs are winners. This guy is in Y5, making just his second playoff appearance, and is the QB for one of the more historic and embarrassing chokes in NFL history just a couple years ago...

But mf's blame EVERYBODY but the quarterback. Funny how that works differently for other guys 🤣...

Jim Harbaugh is his coach. He's gotta win a playoff game, and he certainly cant be outplayed by a Y2 QB in a sophomore slump...

If he is, cue that "Justin Herpert is Just A Guy" thread, I'll bump that mf myself!
@Dorian Breh the fact that Herbert got minimal discussion in this thread was wild 🤣...

There’s no expectations for him to begin with. He’s not winning anything major. Dak Prescott level B tier qb who will need a bunch of pieces and a lot of luck to maybe peak at an afc championship.

AFC has too loaded for them and I don’t really see way out for em

I don't disagree with his trajectory, but he's spoken of CONSTANTLY as a Top 5 QB. All the time, across networks and platforms, when people are discussing the best guys who aren't the Big 4, Herbert is the name you hear far more often than anyone else...

It's those people who are putting undue expectation on him, because when you say a guy is on that level, he's gotta produce. He also just acquired a coach who is lauded (rightfully so) as a winner at every single place he's been. Harbaugh won at USD, won at Stanford, won with the Niners, won at Michigan, he brings winning with him everywhere he goes...

So there should be an expectation that with him as your coach, there should be some big time winning on the horizon. To be fair, so far so good, the Chargers were good this year, I'm speaking of their long term outlook. The expectation is that they become an elite, annual contender, because of who Herbert has as his head coach...

I absolutely agree that he's a mid-tier quarterback. I think they are gonna have a chance here soon though, the teams that have been contenders for most of the last half-decade (KC, Baltimore, Cincy, Buffalo), there's about to be a reshuffling of the deck---->those won't be the same four contenders over the next 5 years. Someone(s) gonna drop out, it's natural football progression, so Herbert and LA will have a chance to make his mark...

It was just 2 years ago when folks were questioning whether or not the Ravens should pay Lamar and they had this protracted back and forth negotiation all summer. The two things that people were harping on were his play style/injury and the playoffs. Nobody was going on and on about his, at the time, one MVP back then. At the same time both Herbert and Burrow were negotiating their deals and it was considered a no brainer that you pay them and they got their money with no issue. Herbert had done nothing in the playoffs but blow a 28-0 lead at the crib and Burrow was already injured going into the season. So far since then, Lamar hasn't missed a game with injury, won an MVP and likely and 2nd one, two division crowns, 2 playoff wins and counting. Justin and Burrow have both missed games due to injury and the two of them combined got one playoff appearance and a swift exit. And nobody is saying "Damn we was wrong about Lamar give that man his props" nope it was all doom and gloom until he and the team balled and then it immediately shfited to "He has had all this individual and team success so he gotta do more". Meanwhile Burrow got crickets and capes. We'll see what is said about Herbert but I doubt he gets a lot of heat and certainly nothing near what Lamar woulda got or will still get if they fall short. That's the shyt I can't rock with. I am not gonna cape for Lamar if he shyts the bed again, but I am not gonna forget the bullshyt either.

It's Lamar Jackson.

In the minds of the fans, that contract many don't believe he deserved, is going to put excruciating pressure on him for the remainder of that agreement until he reaches the Super Bowl or, at the very least, the AFC Championship.

He had a great rookie season and he looks the part. And it’s evident people aren’t buying the hype, by the response in this thread and the general consensus. Media always hypes these bozos up but even they have their golden boys with allen and burrow.

Nobody mentions this dude much for a reason. We saw that reason live. Doesn’t help / hurt that he plays for the chargers who are largely irrelevant. Someone had to correct me about them being in SD this year, I legit forgot them bums moved LA. Rivers >>> at least he’d put on a show while throwing the game away :francis:

What are you watching that you don't hear about Herbert?

I don't watch network TV but from what gets posted here, Herbert gets talked about often...

I mainly follow Cowherd's Volume network and those mf's talk about Herbert all the time. Other football shows that I check out from time to time, it's fairly regular to hear about Herbert...

The ones the come on main networks do not talk about chargers and Herbert like that much at all. Think about compared to every team in the playoffs. Their market isn’t big enough to warrant the air time.

I’m talking espn / fs1 talking head shows. And like I said, real life no one ever talks about them.

In fairness, Colin has a woody for him and Harbaugh especially :pachaha:. Herbert doesn't get discussed a lot in general. But when he does it's always complimentary. He's never scrutinized or held to any standard. Kinda like Stafford used to be. Let him and the Chargers figure it out though...gonna be nauseating.

Yea I don’t watch Colin at all, everything about that dude irks me.

Lol he has the benefit of flying under the radar for the most part but Herbert’s gonna get his time to shine / get shyt on briefly this week then it’s on to business as usual. Chargers aren’t relevant enough for discussion.

They’re lucky the raiders are trash because even they get more air time. Imagine if they were good? In that division. Chargers are kinda Jacksonville status

That's exactly how Philip Rivers flew under the radar for all of his mediocrity in SD

Great QBs win playoff games. If you wanna cement your legacy, you better win in January and have a chance to play in February.

Brady won 35 playoff games brehs. No stats talk necessary. It's beneath him.

Lamar, it's your time to shine. We believe in you.
This is what I tell people who say winning isn't a quarterback stat. The fukk it isn't, qreat quarterbacks win games, period...

Lamar got this, I'm taking Baltimore to go in there and pull off the upset in Buffalo next week...
