I don't disagree with his trajectory, but he's spoken of CONSTANTLY as a Top 5 QB. All the time, across networks and platforms, when people are discussing the best guys who aren't the Big 4, Herbert is the name you hear far more often than anyone else...
It's those people who are putting undue expectation on him, because when you say a guy is on that level, he's gotta produce. He also just acquired a coach who is lauded (rightfully so) as a winner at every single place he's been. Harbaugh won at USD, won at Stanford, won with the Niners, won at Michigan, he brings winning with him everywhere he goes...

The expectation is that they become an elite, annual contender, because of who Herbert has as his head coach...
I absolutely agree that he's a mid-tier quarterback. I think they are gonna have a chance here soon though, the teams that have been contenders for most of the last half-decade (KC, Baltimore, Cincy, Buffalo), there's about to be a reshuffling of the deck---->those won't be the same four contenders over the next 5 years. Someone(s) gonna drop out, it's natural football progression, so Herbert and LA will have a chance to make his mark...
