Power is a lot faster pace, the wire was so slow at times. I dont think even one Power episode was a filler. If it continues at this pace by the time its on season 5, it'll have surpassed...thats IF it lasts that long.

Also to add to Marlo's luck was Avon had wack soldiers. He went after Omar while warring with Marlo and couldn't take two goliaths at once. Also found about stringers role in d'angelos death.

Too much pressure had him doing things that he shouldn't have done. Even then he was good in the end, albeit in jail.

Season 3 always been said it's an analogy to the Iraq war.

I caught on to a lot of the other symbolism, but this is a new one I haven't thought about. Omar = Osama bin Ladin/Afghanistan; Marlo = Iraq

People always forget they had a lot of luck on their side. They were fukking up and talking on cell phones early on before Marlo was under Prop Joe's tutelage. The cops could've busted them easy in their infancy, but the CID was dysfunctional at the time and wouldn't get an investigation going. They had that idiot Maramo or whoever in charge refusing to do wiretaps.

Avon's crew was weak because Avon and a lot of them were locked up or had been killed and Stringer wasn't interested in going to war over corners.

Avon's team would've eventually crushed him once they tooled up and got more soldiers on their payroll. Remember Slim Charles and them had the drop Marlo, Chris, and Snoop outside the rim shop but the cops busted Avon's spot before he could give the okay. That would've been it for them.

They were ruthless and organized, but they had a lot of circumstances go right for them.

Yeah, no, I don't buy any of that as unrealistic

1) Prop Joe took Marlo under his wing because he always tried to build a bond with him because he knew how much power he wielded. He thought if he got in his good graces he could mold him into what he wanted to be and be loyal to him. Marlo was only loyal to himself at the end

2) The Greeks did business with Marlo because they knew he was going to kill Prop Joe anyway and he was going to be their new connection to bring in shipments to Baltimore. He wasn't some random guy off the street, they knew his connection to Prop Joe and they gave him the okay to kill Joe so they could do business because they always knew Joe was weak. They weren't going to give up on the entire town because Prop Joe wasn't gonna survive, so they went with the new number 1 guy. They weren't loyal to Joe to the extent they'd ever let him interfere with their business decisions. They liked him a lot and did business with him because he kept a low profile but if he's gonna be out of the picture they still needed to bring in product and Marlo was running both the East and West side at this point. There were no other options to do business with.

3) The police department was dysfunctional since the first episode. That has nothing to do with making it easier for Marlo. They've always been in a state of flux, full of political games being played

I know 1 & 2, but neither makes sense in the context of the characters. Both happened solely to advance Marlo. Best case scenario Prop Joe is able to "civilize" Marlo....worst case scenario is what happened. There's zero reason to risk that in the first place, if you're Joe.

Same goes for The Greek. They already had a perfect system in place, there's no reason to pass the torch to Marlo. You said Prop Joe was weak, he ran shyt successfully a lot longer than Marlo, who hit the top then was taken out damn near instantly by the cops. Which was the most likely outcome since they were going with a wild card.

As far as the cops, season 1-2 is nowhere near season 5 in terms of how disorganized they were. Which is why the crackpot serial killer plot was even cooked up to begin with. shyt had gotten that bad.
