It depends. Personally I would spend a minimum amount of time and money on side pieces.
Men often fukk up and give like 10% of their monthly income to a bytch and 20% of their time. fukk that.
I'm giving them 1% (5% rare scenario MAX) and maybe like the same portion of my time on the monthly basis. We in the p*ssy and then out.

and would never understand my career- and had no patience to learn the technical aspects, and rolled her eyes at the weird politics
so i had a work wife-
one woman was my confidante for 10+ years straight
we'd spend 20-30 hours a month togerther
either her up in my office, or vice versa- just chilling
she was the one who heard all my problems-
"what is the right way to break this bad news??"
and all the office politics- etc
my real wife would do great at the office christmas parties
she would just do her "vanna white" impersonation and people would like her
but afterwards she would be like "have you ever heard of something called xyz??"
like yes, dear- xyz is the name of the project i have been managing for nearly a year
but some incapabilities only come to light over time..
i'm not exactly a deep thinker myself,
but as you age, you begin to reflect on the twists and turns you've seen-
all the unanswered questions
for whatever reason, my wife never felt this curiosity
we had very good conversations, but it was more straight A to B
so at some point i'd consciously scratch that itch by reading thought-provoking books and magazines
then talking to a couple of friends through my men's group
my wife (rip) wasn't stupid by any means
but i wanted to have conversations she either didn't understand or want to have
(because some of those talks can be "downers")
..so i never had a mistress, but i would say..
it is just a way to address an incompatability that was there from the beginning or developed over time
and would never understand my career- and had no patience to learn the technical aspects, and rolled her eyes at the weird politics
so i had a work wife-

So I work in banking and a common trend I've noticed is a lot of the older men (40's,50's) have 'mistresses' I'm not talking about just any old side chick, I mean my boss bought some random 25 year old chick a fukking 1 million pound apartmentand they 'love' each other. He see's her as his legit 'mistress' aka 2nd wife.
He bought her a big ass apartment, is paying her ISA (I think in the US it's called IRA) and has taken her on like a wife or in the way I'd expect a man to look after his wife, her health care, everything and he gives her racks on racks every month
I've noticed this common pattern that these old dudes have these young women they claim are their 'girlfriends' and their 'mistresses' and they proceed to spend thousands and thousands kitting said person out and building a 2nd life with the chick ?!
WTF is the motivation for this ?!
If they want sex on tap can't they just hire a hooker or get a booty call or something? what is the need for all this tricking on the girl and giving her so much money ? Wouldn't a hooker be more efficient than all this ? Especially if they know that wifey can't find out
And what exactly is a mistress? my boss said it's different and he 'loves her' and he has a separate life with her
well then why can't he leave his wife ?
I just don't understand why anyone would put themselves through the drama of running 2 separate homes and having two separate women you are financially responsible for? There are easier ways to get sex no?
