This thread to me was over at Polar bear. Tigers aren't even that successful in their own natural habitats. Their kill success rates are very low. Tigers are one of the most majestic animals on Earth ya, but cougars (mountain lions) are much more accomplished hunters. A tiger isnt going to attack unless it can stalk you up to pouncing distance. In that case, its a wrap...but if it misses, or an animal sees it a tiger doesnt have the attributes to run it down. The Tiger as a Predator

that's true for most predators though. most of the prey are inherently faster and more agile (or they would have been hunted to extinction a long time ago)

Good point, but i guess what im trying to point out is that tigers are perfectionist hunters. They'd be the GOAT red light, green light 1-2-3 players. If they can catch you on that initial pounce, guaranteed kill...but they will never race you down or attack while you are watching them unless they are in extreme danger of starvation or unable to hunt the way they have evolved to. One of the ways people in the Indian subcontinent stave off tiger attacks is to wear a mask on the back of their head in tiger country so it gives the illusion that they have eyes on the back of their head...it gives the illusion that they have eyes on the back of their head thus making the cats look for more unsuspecting prey. But its been well documented that of all the big cats, tigers have routinely the lowest kill success rates. The Cheetah, a notoriously unsuccessful hunter in the savannah, usually kills more of its targets than tigers.

Suprised komodo dragons don't get any love. They basically have armor, poison, and muscle mass on their sides. I think only thing that could take a komodo is an elephant by stepping on it, but they're pretty fast too.

Naw. They're relatively slow and as monitor lizards, they aren't at their best in the shore. They're only about 200 pounds, smaller than you think, and the septic pathogens in their saliva arent immediately poisonous- a tiger or bear could whip it before that, and possibly an alligator as well. I've seen a tiger pin down a alligator and go to town, and those things can weigh close to a ton or more.

Can YOU read, a Lion on it's own DID try, the pride didn't want no parts of the Elephant till the Boss Don jumped out the tree.

And Tigers have been known to kill elephants one on one, so fukk outta here.

Would he fukk with a hippo though?

when I looked up that snake you posted earlier, it said one of it's few predators was a monitor lizard that had become more-or-less immune to it's poison

that being said, I don't think it would stand a chance against larger predators

when you think about how powerful some of these animals are, its kind of amazing that humans have managed to become the world's apex predator. It makes me think that our ancestors must have really been something. Who was the first man to hunt a whale? To dare to wrestle with a croc in single combat? To beat a tiger or a big cat in single combat? How did he pull it off, with a spear?

:salute: to the early man :wow:

:ohhh:
that sounds like a good ass movie
