The problem with this argument is that tigers hunt everything. A tiger will sometimes attack a bull elephant, dolo. They're not really scared of anything, and the only real threats they suffer are from elephants and other tigers, which are two of the biggest, strongest land animals, and yet they willingly attack them anyway.
Crocodiles have taken out tigers before when they catch them sleeping while drinking water and lock on then pull them underwater.
I think we have to understand that certain animals have certain advantages in certain environments.
An Orca might be the most intelligent non-human hunter out there.
when you think about how powerful some of these animals are, its kind of amazing that humans have managed to become the world's apex predator. It makes me think that our ancestors must have really been something. Who was the first man to hunt a whale? To dare to wrestle with a croc in single combat? To beat a tiger or a big cat in single combat? How did he pull it off, with a spear?
to the early man
Twenty thousand years ago six male Australian Aborigines chasing prey left footprints in a muddy lake shore that became fossilized. Analysis of the footprints shows one of them was running at 37 kph (23 mph), only 5 kph slower than Usain Bolt was traveling at when he ran the 100 meters in world record time of 9.69 seconds in Beijing last year. But Bolt had been the recipient of modern training, and had the benefits of spiked running shoes and a rubberized track, whereas the Aboriginal man was running barefoot in soft mud. Given the modern conditions, the man, dubbed T8, could have reached speeds of 45 kph, according to McAllister.
McAllister also presents as evidence of his thesis photographs taken by a German anthropologist early in the twentieth century. The photographs showed Tutsi initiation ceremonies in which young men had to jump their own height in order to be accepted as men. Some of them jumped as high as 2.52 meters, which is higher than the current world record of 2.45 meters.

No doubt. It's hard to fathom living as a momadic hunter-gatherer constantly 24/7 exposed to animals that could tear you apart if you get caught sleeping, not to mention the elements, diseases, etc.
I mean you can kill a sabretooth tiger with a spear, but to be ready in the moment when it happens, look it in the eye show no fear and do it is
Hunger is a mother fuker.
I had the honor of shaking the hand of a tribesmen from some head hunter tribe from the amazon. Dude was all sinew and muscle. His hand felt like a got damn vice, no joke it was like touching a chimp hand. You ever shake hands with a brick layer? Or Mason who swings a 15 pound hammer all day long? Humans, when put together correctly are pretty bad ass. Couple that with not having eaten in 3 days and dudes will take on anything remotely edible.
