OP getting hate, but he’s right. These days all the games are either some indie low budget shyt; a rpg that takes 500 hours to finish, live service, a “souls lite”, or a game that is set 200+ years ago.

There’s some quality games coming out, but this generation has been ass, as the graphics haven’t had a next gen leap and the optimization has been lacking(Jedi Survivor; Plague Tale Requiem). Gaming isn’t what it was back in the 360/PS3 age, we’re lacking variety at the AA/AAA space. I’d kill for a 3rd person Uncharted like game, or a GTA clone like Sleeping Dogs.
Thanks

:ehh: Eating more way than one in this era, than the PS2 era fasho. Yes, gaming in general seems to be in a meh setting, but the marsupial manages to find shyt beyond AAA, like AA and indie :wow:

shyt takes me back to the days of looking for underground hip hop albums in the midst of trap snap and bling bling raps.

You not digging deep enough.

Honestly, Ps4 to know is the best era since the ps2 days, yeah we started getting incomplete games, the predatory tactics became worse etc, but the amount of fantastic single player games on every genre is huge.

Where is the gears of war for this generation? The 90's spider man, fatal fury, mortal combat? Nothing like that today

Closest to scratch that Gears of War itch for this gen would be Space Marines 2.

If you want a Spiderman beat em up, try the Marvel lego games or Streets of Rage 4

I think the type of games you like will greatly influence how you view this

As someone who has always loved RPGs it seems like we’ve been eating heavy for damn near a decade

Why is everything so static and boring? Feels like there hasn't been a good new franchise in years. Everyone seems to be blah about Series X and PS5. If I don't play on steam, I'm not even thinking about games as a whole anymore.
Games like Grand Theft Auto V have warped what the large publishers want. They don't really want to waste capital on more modest successes anymore. They're chasing trends trying to create the next big thing and if that doesn't play out they have no qualms closing a studio Hence things are really narrowing down as to what they're putting out.

The indie studios are where the experimentation is tat.

Same thing that happened to movies. When you gotta sell millions of copies just to break even the experimentation stops and you just get remixes of the tried-and-true formulas. Everything is an AssCreed, Uncharted, Mass Effect, Batman Arkham mash up because that's what is proven to sell.

Dark Souls is the new hot thing to copy.
experimentation didn't stop, yall just want everything to function on a mainstream level and that's not realistic, so many creative movies come out that you'll NEVER hear about casually, you gotta be following the socials of entities that post experimental/arthouse stuff and you'll get your fix, there's too much coming out to still depend on mainstream outlets to spoonfeed you shyt that's dope, they can't keep up with the internet

same with music

same with gaming

and given how much better algorithms work nowadays, after a week or so you'll start getting suggested that type of shyt and realize cool stuff never stopped being made

TLDR: stop waiting for hype to direct you to cool shyt and use the internet the way it was intended, find what you like, it's there
