JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WSVN) — A Florida woman is using a unique method in her preps for Hurricane Dorian.
According to Fox 30, Jacksonville resident Brittany Vidal used heavy duty plastic, 300 sandbags and a lot of duct tape to ensure her home is prepared for potential flooding from the storm.
Vidal dealt with flooding during Hurricanes Irma and Matthew, so she is hoping this will make a difference.
“Hopefully our barricade will do something for us this year, but at least we can immediately start getting fans, get things going–” she said.
Vidal is in an evacuation zone, but she said she plans to wait out the storm.
“If it works, it’s totally worth it,” Vidal said.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Authorities in Florida say they’ve arrested 85 people in a months-long, human trafficking sting.
The Tampa Bay Times reports that Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister announced the arrests Monday.
Officials say “Operation Trade Secrets” began at the beginning of the year, focusing on hotels, motels, spas, massage parlors, strip clubs, adult bookstores and other activities.
Chronister says one of the people arrested was a sex trafficker, while others face charges such as prostitution, child pornography and voyeurism.
Florida had the third-most calls last year to the National Human Trafficking Hotline.
Human trafficking is a particular concern for Tampa, which will host the Super Bowl in 2021. The FBI netted 169 arrests in a sex trafficking sting around Atlanta during this year’s NFL championship game.

Katie Gates (Nassau County Sheriff's Office)
CALLAHAN, Fla. (CBS12) — A 19-year-old woman is behind bars after reportedly threatening her family over tomatoes, the Nassau County Sheriff's Office said.
On Sept. 12, deputies responded to a home in reference to a domestic dispute involving a knife, according to the sheriff's office. The 73-year-old homeowner told deputies her granddaughter, Katie Gates, that she got angry because she wanted to eat "more than her fair share of tomatoes at the dinner table."
Gates threw a fit that she couldn't have more tomatoes and started being disrespectful to the other adults in the house, the sheriff's office said. This enraged the elderly adults. Gates then threw a water bottle at her grandfather and almost hit him.
She then angrily threw a pack of cigarettes at her grandmother, hitting her in the top part of her eye, according to the sheriff's office. Then, Gates grabbed a knife and chased her grandfather out of the house while yelling obscenities. She poked the knife in his face, almost striking him.
When her grandmother yelled she was calling the police, Gates ran back into the kitchen and threw the knife on the counter, where deputies later found it.
Katie Gates is now facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery on a person over 65 years old.
She was released on a $18,000 bond.
