As an outsider to Abrahamic religions, this story has always horrified me. In other religions Gods are capricious, and often play with the fates of mortals.... But this story always struck me as awful because of how God and his supposed arch enemy did that to Job on what essentially amounts to a whim. I suppose the story exists to show the power of belief, but how can you be inspired by such a blatantly unethical God? Just because he's God?

Indian, raised Hindu. My parents are essentially atheists though, and when we were old enough admitted as such and basically let their kids do what they want. My sister stayed a hindu, my older brother believes in god on his own terms, and im basically an agnostic (but not antireligious).I hear what ur saying
