besides Keri hilson who else did she black ball?

Keisha Cole & sharked Ameerie`s sound sonically for a hit.

R&B commercially is a niche type of genre now.

Hip hop don't even use r&b to sing hooks nowadays compared to the early 00s & 90s.Rappers singing their own hooks now.Less dependant on each other.

Spot on about house music. That shyt was blatantly jacked from us by Euro cacs and a lot of people don't know anything about it. The whole house (or world music or whatever that they call it now) sound has it's origin in Chicago but it's been quietly and subtly whitewashed. Black folks are going to take an L in the history books when it comes to the origin of that genre.

Bruh my house music thread in the booth... smfh :fire:

I was basically begging nikkas to come join me in that thread and sure enough it died a quick death :smh:

You gotta go to the source to find the answer. Music and art class are being eliminated in inner city schools. So we will never hear that next rising star because the talent was never cultivated.

The source is the church.... all the GOAT singers come from there

All the 90s divas came after Reaganomics...

No lies told you are right about that but in today's landscape most of these great singers in the church either remain on the choir or go into Gospel music.

There's no artist development is the real reason... Kehlani and Tinashe
had to drop mixtapes and have a little following before they got signed.

There's no artist development for any new artist. I believe that record label being monopolized played a huge role on the decline of music quality and stars. The labels banks that specialized on music . When there was more then 3 major labels artist development had to be prioritize due to needing superstars.

@ me when you get your thoughts together
Roughly the idea is that the traditional fanbase or support for black female singers is gone.

The talent is still here but the base is gone.

But I gets a little deeper on why some are successful or most are not.

I wouldn't solely place the blame on Beyonce/Rihanna's success. The label execs are the ones to blame imo. I think the talent of black female singers are out there but with the mainstream, marketing > actual talent. The industry/label heads have pushed this philosophy for over 15 yrs now.

Which contributes to decline of album sales.

I kinda blame the death of adult R&B partly on Puff...once the late 90 and 2000's came, alot of the hit R&B records had to have a rapper doing a cameo ( Puff and his Southern clone JD made a living with this formula) which makes for an odd pairing at times and I am sure some singers wouldnt adjust to what was popular so they faded away
mix that with the aesthetics of what a singer should look like- its no wonder the handful of acts we have now look similar and the music often times lacks substance
