I don't think Bono wakes up at night worried that Chris Martin is going to take his spot.

But it is rough for rock. I think its hard to convey now just how big rock was in the 60s, 70s and 80s.

Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon sold Thriller numbers without having pop hits.

Chris Martin already took his spot ....

Dark Side Of The Moon was revolutionary at the time.

Either way MJ lapped all those bands something vicious :wow:

Most artists these days don't put in work. They just want to be famous overnight. Becoming famous like Beyoncé doesn't happen overnight. It takes hard work and dedication or many years. People are so damn lazy these days.

first time hearing of her, wow she is very beautiful....

from the look to the voice she kinda of remind of the black female singers who use to lace those club/techno/house hits in the 90's...

R&B died because the Legends pretty much made the same songs for 40 years straight.

Most of Beyonce's competition either fukked themselves out of the industry or were nowhere near her in terms of talent.

The only way to make it happens is with Whitney Houston/Michael Jackson model. The pop stuff is what sent them to the stratosphere, even though both arguably had much better work(to our ears) in other projects and even on those same albums. Mariah Carey even went that same pathway(popular with black people first, then crossed over into big stardom). I prefer the straight soul or more jazzy or soulful R&B, but that will never make a superstar because the masses can't consume it. Up until the 80s, they had to chase it. Same with hip-hop until the 2010s. So that's the game that has to be played.
