Watching up through episode 18 of DanMachi S5 and the big highlight in how Bell is continuing to improve at a crazy rate. More so it is due to wanting to protect Ryu. The fact he has adapted and even is holding his own is in many ways absolutely insane. Also parallels between him & Alise are really great.
One thing the 2nd half of the season has absolutely delivered in putting the viewer on the edge of their seats. As we see Bell and Ryu get ambushed by enemies which attack with deadly poison at first sight we see they barely make it through. Though at the last second, one of them lived and hits Bell and if it wasn't for the Unicorn Horn Welf crafted for Bell, he would have been dead. Once again, Welf really impressing and he wasn't even around.
One thing the 2nd half of the season has absolutely delivered in putting the viewer on the edge of their seats. Oshi No Ko’s romance is terrible. Watching these two chicks pine over this emotionally unavailable man in a teenager’s body is rough. It’s clear he has zero interest in either and doesn’t see them that way. Arima is especially baffling as they have nothing in common and no good vibe between them. At least him and Akane are both off their rockers.

Up to ep 9 now in Kaiju No. 8. Kafka Hibino has become one of my favorite recent anime protagonists

This adapted the fight beautifully covering Chapters 17+18 & half of 19. I am actually curious what they will do next episode. Since ending at chapter 20 would be quite cruel to end on.

Really standout episode for the fight. Ignoring the out of context, I have allowed Will to touch me line. Wignall's affirmation of his friendship with Will was a great moment. Entering in Wignall thought so little of Will, but now they have really grown to become friends. Also, I do love the coaching Will gives Julius regarding Ars Weiss. Cool idea that each clone can carry on a long incantation.
At first glance, Will's glasses breaking feels weird for him to love his cool. But when you realize those belonged to Elfie and that it resembles his connection to her. In a way, every time he entered the dungeon, a part of her was with him. As we now get Colette standing up to the Grand Duke alongside Lihanna & Wignall.
We get an interesting flashback about the joining of Wand & Sword much like the title of the series. Essentially, combining the two is the answer. Will & Sion being that Wand & Sword and was enough to take down the Grand Duke. The pacing in this episode felt great for the fight and the animation was really good as well.

Honestly, the dungeon arc is where the series finds its rhythm. If S2 maintains the animation quality it's going to be top-tier action with its fights.

Not the most animation intensive, but really executed the emotion beats of the Mizuki Sacrifice for Ai.
Also the Kyo beheading of Kawashyta was clean af

Finished Kaiju No 8, overall think I liked it more than Solo Leveling (the other most recent anime I've watched). It has shades of other anime I enjoy, AOT comes to mind, but it's all executed well with some really impressive animation. Glad to see it's been renewed for another season.
havent watched anime in what feels like forever. Nothing has really caught or held my attention as of late.
Got 5 shows on deck for the new season.

Dandadan: I havent looked, but I FULLY expect @tripleaamin to have brought the upcoming show to y'alls attention. That and Sakamoto Days. I'll admit I've damn near lost hope in adaptations, but I'm still here for it.
SAOAlternative: Gun Gale: Pink Devil Bunny returns!
Man, I enjoyed the shyt out of the first season. The few responses to the eps in this thread were hype as hell. Gun busting, Head bussin, wig splitting, well thought out tactical battles. First season has one of my favorite moments in anime history.
Ura Rate Mahjong Touhai Roku: It's a show about Mahjongg. Im a sucker for those (Akagi, Saki). Sorta in the same vein as Akagi. The politics of the criminal underworld is heavily swayed by mahjongg games. Protagonist is a genius mahjongg player by night, and a student by day. It doesn't seem ANYWHERE NEAR as dark, cerebral and oppressive as Akagi, and it doesnt have the deadly serious whimsy as Saki. But I'm here to pay homage. Hopefully it'll be good.
Ranma 1/2: It's Ranma 1/2. I have no idea wether it's gonna be a hit or flop, but I'm here for it.

Looked at the manga for Cafe Goddesses and they edited out a whole character in the midst of how they ended that season. Makes me wonder if it will get another. They're running low on material though. Gonna switch to the manga. Same with Wistoria. It has enough material for a 2nd season at the going rate but that's it.

Really nice. The anime was stunningly animated. I did prefer the first half to the 2nd half, but I loved the finale of the 2nd arc.

They still have 70 chapters left, so not sure how you came to that conclusion.
As far Wistoria is concenred while the manga's art is a top tier, the anime has been tying the Prequel Ln, and visually it has been outstanding, led by Tatsuya Yoshihara. I'd expect S2 to come out by the end of 2025. I think those who stick to be anime only for S2 will be heavily rewarded as they continue to tie in the Prequel Ln, which isn't translated atm.
You won't be disappointed. Really good show. Kafka is a good dude
