I mean, the teaser showed that JC Staff will at least try to make a better effort than season 2.

It just doesn't help them that season 1 was one of the GOAT animated seasons for a fighting series. The bar was set that high and Murata's drawing also sets an impossibly high standard too. Still, I don't think S2 is defensible, they treated OPM like a random series and not the blockbuster hit that it was.

I do wonder how they'll pace this arc and if it's just 1 cour like season 2. Murata's adaptation took for fukking forever to get to the action we were all waiting for (it was worth it though, jreh spazzed the fukk out with it) and S2 already felt like an unfinished story, they better deliver some memorable shyt this time around.
I'm in the minority because I still enjoyed S2 while acknowledging that there's a gap in animation. A combination of bad studio decisions and being a victim of it's own success because S1 was almost perfect.

I'm just glad it's back after that ridiculous hiatus.

Through 9 episodes so far Undead Unwanted Adventurer, it has been a good watch. Animation and visuals have been pretty solid. The characters and their motivations feel understandable and real. The title of the story is illustrated to the Mc of the series. He becomes an undead and currently of the vampire family now. But I like how the unwanted aspect is used in a way where it's self inflected. Basically in the sense Rentt has a group of people that clearly loved him, but he doesn't want to be a burden. The fact it does it in such a natural aspect and not overexaggerating like in most anime is nice.

In particular his relationship with Lorraine is great. You can tell the two truly care for each other. The show does a great job of using show and not tell giving us the indication they have known each other for a long time. I also like how the side cast can easily figure about Rentt's identity. A lot of series would make a bigger deal out of this, but these characters figure out quickly, but they know the trauma Rentt has gone through. And are willing to wait till he is ready to talk about it. At the same time Rentt realizes they might have figured out.

Also, the pacing how they have gone about Rentt's undead evolution has been well done. Doesn't bloat the information at the start like most series would do. It eases the watcher, so they can understand it in a very digestible manner. (Example in today's episode given below) The story more so aligns with Rentt and his growth as an undead, in terms of having more confidence in himself and as an adventurer. This is 100% a character driven series, so if you enjoy those kinds this might be a good series to pick. I, for one, will read the light novel eventually.

1.- "I'm the mage of the party that cleared the most dungeons in history 🙂"

2.- "No one knows better than I do how frightening I can be"

3.- *The shot of Frieren and her copy while that huge boulder was falling on their heads*

She's just so cotdamn COLD with it brehs :noah: :noah: I understand Himmel's simping ass, I would've been a simping hero for her too :wow:

Fern feeling guilty and concerned about the plan, knowing she has the power to kill Frieren (which means another human can potentially do it too). And the episode ending with her making the same cold ass face her master has when she gets a W :wow: :mjcry:

This series is a certified masterpiece in my book :hubie:

If we are only talking about the anime, I generally feel like you need 2+ seasons before we have this conversation. Since objectively speaking any series can have an amazing first season run. But it's those 2nd and further season is what makes it special.

Anime is easily the best of 2023 and adaptation is beyond breathtaking. As it adapts what I consider a masterpiece manga and expands on it to insane levels.

Weakest Tamer Episode 8.

This series continues to be one of my favorites this season.

Man great episode. I had a bad feeling given Ivy's conversation with Meela at the beginning of the episode. I was really hoping she could a mentor of sorts for Ivy since most of the other people who Ivy has met has protected her, but nothing in regard to taming.

Honestly Ivy always being on guard since she started off journey really has her developing a spider-sense of sorts. But man there is more to Sora than meets the eye. He has big growth, and now he can sense dangerous people? I wonder in the case of taming Sora if as he grows he becomes a high level slime that Ivy normally wouldn't tame, but since she tamed him at the start she could. So maybe for Ivy being a starless tamer isn't the end of the world. Maybe she can tame those that have big potential for growth?

I was really worried Ivy was going to be kidnapped in this episode before showing off Sora. It would have been silly if the men didn't at least scope out Meela even if Ivy didn't have hard evidence, so I am glad they did that. I even love how Ivy even told them about Sora. And it's even more evident these are all good people as they recognize this is information they don't want to spill. Great quick flashback moment where the fortune-teller says secrets are a double-edged sword. There are so many troupes that this show could have fallen into, but didn't go with thankfully.

I also love the isekai element in this show. Ivy is her own person, but is influenced by her previous life and the thoughts she hears from it. In a way Ivy still feels like a true 8-year-old since in a lot of isekais it feels like a grown up is inside a child's body.

Sousou no Frieren Episode 25

Chapter 52+53 was fully adapted here. Few things to note the flashback for the Heroes Party was nicely expanded. The start of the fight with Frieren & Fern vs Replica Frieren was animated beautifully as well.

Lastly in the flashback in the manga we see a shot of Serie reflecting on Serie when she was young. But here in the manga even though this is Serie's perspective as Frieren didn't meet her till Flamme was an adult. But the part where Serie imagines seeing a young Flamme and first see picks up flowers. This individuality was the first step for her, but she races to the sunset before Frieren and Serie. Truly illustrating that Flamme left her mark in the world of magic and did it with a much shorter lifespan. What a beautiful episode and enhanced the manga wonderfully here again. Which has been a consistent part of this adaptation.

Regarding the episode itself.

Man Denken has every right to be annoyed when everyone mentions working together. There is always the angle of can you trust them, but logically speaking they all should have worked with each other from the jump. Lawine's information was pretty fukking vital.

One thing I love about this episode was that majority of the time spent was with the Serie flashback and preparation. The actual fight was over relatively quick. And I love that. I personally hate it when fights get dragged out, but the fight served the two purposes.

First with Frieren's weakness. It's funny how Frieren gets ashamed to admit it. It does show that even the great ones become nervous admitting their flaws. But TBH calling it a weakness might be an overstretch after all it requires some who can activate spells, but also one can hide. I do wonder is Frieren basically unbeatable in 1 on 1 mage fights?

The flashback itself was wonderful. Frieren bringing the news of Flamme's death to Serie. Serie has the belief only those who are special should wield it. While Frieren, whom we see just loves it as a hobby. Like many hobbies the more that get absorbed into it the better. And we also know Flamme wanted to expand its usages, so humans can use it as well. The difference between Series from these two is that Frieren and Flamme truly loved magic. After all a flower spell for Flamme and all the ones we have seen Frieren collect would be considered useless by Serie. But for Serie there seems to be a logical practical than to magic. While for Flamme, Frieren and even Denken, it's the pursuit of magic that gave each of them great joy.

There is also mentioned how much Frieren accomplished in a human's life. Serie stressed the point her and Frieren could wait 1000 years and there would be no sense of urgency. It really raises the point how long there life is and how a human needs to capitalize on these moments. Flamme did just that. She wrote her name in history.

While Serie has the thought that only those whom are special should wield magic. You can tell that if talented people like Flamme practice magic there will be great things to see. So in a contrast she is proud of Flamme, but she won't admit it. Then the cut-off part where Frieren will only be killed by the Demon Lord or a human mage, and it cuts to Fern killing Frieren's replica was perfect.

Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic Episode 8

Great episode to finish off the Rose flashback arc. Direction was awesome and really elevated to how heartbreaking it is :mjcry:

Heartbreaking episode of a flashback. It that was an honorable fight the result would have been different. But Nero is more than willing to sacrifice his squad if it means victory. While Rose is one who cherished and deep cares for hers. I felt disgusted with Nero's words in regard to Rose's squad he simply views his as tools.

It was awesome to see Rose beat him up, but Nero has an apprentice that cares for him. Rose seeing that and being traumatized seeing Amila with Aui's face was hard to watch. Amila calling humans monsters is ironic because her master literally was more than happy to sacrifice his soldiers' lives if it means victory.

I loved how Aui's final words carried with Rose where she made the current squad how it is. You have the 2 specialty healers in Orga and Ururu. Then you have Usato who is basically a mini-Rose in terms of skill set and has the potential to grow. Amazing direction with this flashback. It really shows us a side of Rose that we haven't seen yet. We know she cares for her squad, but the cool level-headed Rose has deep emotional scars that she buried in her heart. In which carries and motivates her going forward.

Black Knight seems very arrogant. Well next episode we start moving forward with the story.

Great episode to get an insight of Andy. And man talk about what feels like a completely different character. But it is evident that Andy's past is tragic. How many people died as he kept on living? Also, nice to see Fuko have more confidence in this arc and even comes to the truth of her feelings. While the dynamic between Fuko and Andy didn't start off well, it is something I have grown to enjoy more and more as the season has progressed.

Looks like next episode we will continue with the flashbacks and Victor will be making an appearance.
