I remember watching the anime for this and it seemed pretty mediocre. Maybe it was just a bad adaptation. Somehow that anime is also getting a second season.
Uh adaptation wise I don’t recall but it did a solid job I think it didn’t miss over anything significant. It adapted 4 vols over 12 episodes
I’ll say the romance side it didn’t do good enough if u care about that part so there is that

In another world with my smartphone i thought the anime was average at best but when I read the novel it felt like something completely different than the damn anime
I always tell people if a anime even if it’s bad but the concept or summary interest u go read source material cuz it just could be a bad adaptation not cuz pace or missing material just some series just don’t translate well being animated and are better off staying manga or light novel
totally missed the love part. Even the manga did it better
was painfull watching it how fast they were going. But thats the weekly pain we novel readers have to endure

I binged Re:Zero some months ago and found it above average but not worth the hype or getting very invested in. Some really high highs but the return by death gimmick grew tired rather quickly and the stuff they did in season two didn't grab me that much. Subaru feels like a character the author tries too damn hard. I think the only Isekai I legit find great is Mushoku Tensei (I mean, I went out and binge read the whole fukking thing after the first turning point in the anime).mI guess the genre is not for me and MT is just the exception to the rule.
I agree with most with what you said.
I will say Re:Zero does a great job with world-building. No other Iseaki comes close to how MT and Re:Zero is in that regard. But characters are severely underwhelming to me in Re:Zero. Legit like there isn't one single character that I am a big fan of. S1 felt severely mid to me. S2 was better, but still had issues.
