Finished rewatching Cowboy Bebop last night and started Bleach. Got thru the 1st 4 episodes. Seems like something I will enjoy.
"One Piece is not as good as the hype" shyt is the only series i've watched/read that SURPASSED the hype. I remember reading about it and hearing that it gets better and better. That shyt is almost never true but it was for One Piece. Here I am still reading this shyt every gotdamn week for over a decade now. One Piece is objectively the GOAT (shounen). Yeah I said that. DB is cool but OP is the new king. HxH could've been a competitor but that shyt is on permanent hiatus status.
And I disagree that you gotta wait 300 episodes or whatever to start liking it. If you aren't all in by Arlong Park then your taste sucks.

I'm going to catch up on this show this weekend. I didn't know the season was 24 episodes, I thought it was 12. So has he Plunderered any was those 3 chicks he has crushing on him yet
Just watched this bizarre OVA called Alien 9. About elementary kids who are trained to fight aliens without any explanation why. They are given monster pets who follow them everywhere - even watching them sleep, and are attached to their heads during combat. It's as creepy as it sounds.
One of the kids is a nervous wreck exactly like Shinji Ikari. Constantly crying, trying to run away from responsibilities. And like Shinji it's easy to understand why a child would be afraid of fighting against some random monsters that can kill them at any moment. Her anxiety and mental breakdowns get worse and worse with every alien encounter.
It never tells you what the aliens are, where they are from, why children are being farmed to fight them and seems entirely open for interpretation. Have a theory that it's an elaborate allegory about child abuse, child neglect, peer pressure, puberty as supported by some of the dream symbolism. Disturbing if correct.
There are heavy NGE parallels, FLCL vibes. Predates what Madoka Magika would later do by a decade. Thought it was really great for such an unknown OVA series.
