Chad Hugo deserves major props, but I'm not cosigning the disrespect that Pharrell is getting on social media right now. People propping up Chad and shytting on Pharrell saying he ain't really making the beats is bullshyt.

I'm saddened to see it. I know they're capable as solo songwriters/producers but it never lives up to their collabs imo. You can definitely tell Chad has been missing from Pharrell's output over the last decade. Not to say Pharrell aint had some heat but it's that umami Chad brought to the dish that's unmistakably gone. And if i'm not mistaken he programmed the drums. I really was hoping for a new NERD project.

They ruined enough songs with those unfinished beats people thought were genius,and Pharrells weak voice. Easily the worst,most respected producers in hiphop history.

Completely disagree with you but this was a hilarious takedown. I been a fan for 20+ years now and they're still my favorite producers (tied with Babyface?) but some of their shyt is undeniably atrocious.

That is the dynamic I hated when the split happened. People assumed Chad was the genius of The Neptunes forgetting that it was always a collaborative effort. Ok, Pharrell starts producing solo, but its during the period when The Neptunes aren't cranking out anywhere as many hits. So people start really running with Chad was the genius. Then in 2013, "Blurred Lines" and "Get Lucky" (the Daft Punk song) blow up. Now all of a sudden the world hops on the Pharrell Williams bandwagon. Then "Happy" takes off and Pharrell is wearing that hat and everybody loves Pharrell. Now the narrative is Pharrell Williams did all the work and its like Chad nor The Neptunes as a duo ever existed.

Both of them dudes as The Neptunes are greats among greats, but the overrating of Pharrell by the media is criminal.
