Chad deserves equal say in that name.

Pharrell is obviously much more well known and has created a solo career as both a producer and artist. But The Neptunes is both of them, and to be honest, the music ain't as hot when Chad isn't involved as well

They ruined enough songs with those unfinished beats people thought were genius, and Pharrells weak voice. Easily the worst, most respected producers in hiphop history.

And yes this probably seems like a "hot take", because its random and has nothing to do with this thread. But its not,Ive just been waiting to say it:pachaha:

Some posters in this thread are asking “what has Chad done the last several years”

He’s been working but very low key

He just helped out on Ye’s new album, on the song “Problematic”; he’s playing the horn on that and got a co production on that song

He’s been working with a lot of different artists over the last several years and even playing in a jazz symphony

Nikka probably got half a mil for that fruity loop ass Drop It Like It’s Hot beat. Shyt sound like he made it by beating on a desk and clicking his tongue. I’m a hater too, fukk it:yeshrug:

I used to think that beat was hard too:mjlol:

So i humbly apologize for being part of the problem. I shouldve seen that Willy Wonka whistle, casio back drop and tongue click was garbage in real time:francis:

You're right. He's a guy that likes to stay out of the spotlight. Every producer isn't on the hook or in front of the camera while doing a name drop at the beginning.

I blame the media for this. For years, they have been crediting Pharrell Williams for what he AND Chad did as The Neptunes. The media did this and the fans ran with it.
fans don't buy cds and/or read credits. The same reason that Mike Elizondo can't get $50k a track on his own, but can while working with dre.

You gonna blame the Media for Pharrell allegedly doing shiesty business? Thats like blaming tv shows and music for people committing murders. These people are grown adults and know what they’re doing and should be held accountable. Pharrell gonna have to run them books if this is true and pay Chad whats owed and either do the legal thing going forward or just start his own production brand and have a clean break. Its not like he “needs” Chad, he’s already proven he’s a chart topping, critically acclaimed producer on his own.

Mike Elizondo is more of a session player though. Most of his credits outside of what he did with Dre is playing bass. He did work for Fiona Apple prior to working with Dre. Same with Mark Batson. Before Dre, he was like a member of the Dave Matthews Band as their keyboardist. They aren't sought after like that and only work with a select grouo or artists.

What I'm saying is, they media has gone decades crediting Pharrell. Is this the fault of the media for Pharrell not honoring a legally binding agreement? No. But they definitely pushed a narrative. That's a fact.
