You're damn straight it apples and oranges. In ID, a few Jews got their revenge the people who were the direct cause to their people's suffering. Blacks were afforded that opportunity in Django. Django himself wasnt even remotely concerned with the blight of Blacks. There doesn't need to be a Hitler equivalent in Django to label it a Black revenge as you would ID a Jew revenge film. Django doesn't even get to kill a Plantation owner He was more focused on killing Jackson than any other cac in the film, going so far as to travel back to the plantation just to style on him. The only times Django showed stones was when he was shytting on black folks.

I never expected to Taranino to be accurate at all, the man never finished high school but his stans consistently use "accurately" as one of his defenses. QT sold this as a Black revenge flick before he started filming, I was excited to see it until I did. Django is as much as a Black revenge film as XXX: State of the Union is. Cube and Foxx kill just as many cacs.:rational:

First off, I'm not surprised that most of you didn't read the article.
I can tell that because your replies are limited, the actual article says most ppl missed spikes point. So if you didn't read this article, you don't even know what the problem is at its root level

What I've noticed online is people are cool with not even knowing what the topic is, they just need a few words and they have an answer already. In this case, the words would be "Spike, Django"

If the article is too long for you to read, you are not intelligent enough to have a response to it. Trying to discredit Spike here is like looking for weapons of mass destruction. You won't find a reason. Flip it tho, and there is plenty of reason for spike to feel the way he does

I usually agree with everything Bob says but before he posted this, I knew what he was going to say. Dude is going Mr. Fantastic levels of stretching, thus is a Taranino stan. In his review he calls this QT's take on Spaghetti Westerns then he comes out with this vid calling QT a meta fiction genius and Django more than a Spaghetti Western

[I wanted]to do movies that deal with America's horrible past with slavery and stuff but do them like spaghetti westerns, not like big issue movies

At least he understands why this film would be considered disrespect but Bob comes from a place of "art", a place where nothing is off limits if its artistic. I doubt these people would praise Birth of a Nation or Triumph of the Will

Thats what I said. Django isnt Black hero as the media, QT and his stans are claiming. Django is a hero who happens to be Black. The wouldn't have changed if he were an indentured white servant married to black slave in the deep south....would it?

Very little.

IB is different from DU for a number of reasons:

- Aldo Raines was part Apache.

- The Basterds were not there to avenge Jews or end the Holocaust. They were there to kill Nazi's.

- It just happend that some of the soldiers in the unit were Jewish. Not much of a stretch since they were all American except for Stiglitz and the soldier from the UK.

- Killing Hitler was simply an added bonus to whatever adventures they were on.

- One of the Basterds was a former Nazi (Hugo Stiglitz) who took pleasure in torturing and murdering other Nazis.

Really they're only similar because they were both revenge flicks based on historical events.

Spike made Malcolm X who was a great man that was branded a terrorist.
Van Pebbles made Panther about great organization that tried to protect and uplift black people with education, protection and free meals. They were branded terrorist by the gov't, hunted down, killed and/or thrown in jail just cuz they existed.

Both of these movies got the green light and I personally enjoyed both. Now tell me why "they" can't make a Nat Turner movie.
