Wait, they’re gonna get rid of the shift? That’s a dumb move. :what:
The NBA added defensive 3 seconds, MLB trying to keep the offense flowing too.

Some of these shifts are wild tho. Dudes hitting rockets right back up the middle and getting out cause the shift is on. It's probably something hitters would love to see gone, but pitchers don't.

The thing about all those rule changes is they're counteractive to eachother.
Baseball wants to add offense, and make the game shorter at the same time. That's impossible. Defensive games with great pitchers are quick, high scoring games are long af.
So what are they really trying to accomplish?

The problem with the length of MLB games is almost entirely the fault of the commercials in between innings.

Adding a pitching timer won't do much.

I will say this, I did like that rule where if you bring in a reliever he has to face at least 3 batters. It was so tiring to see a manager bring in a lefty reliever to face a lefty batter, 4 pitch walk, then another pitching change to bring in a righty vs righty. This shyt was awful.

You know how many times I watched Bobby Valentine bring in Dennis Cook just for him to throw 4 sliders in the dirt. :snoop:
no thats the best possible move, fukk the shift, tired of seeing teams with half their lineup hitting 220 because 3rd baseman are playing in right field
I kinda feel you with this frustration, but it's a difficult argument to win. The other night I saw 4 batters hit grounders right up the middle behind the 2nd base bag, only for there to be a fielder right there, like wtf? 4 singles turned into groundouts.

The league wants more offense. People wouldn't care about game length if offense was abundant. The Yankees-Twins game from 2019 where the score ended 14-12 was 5 hours long. People called it game of the year that season.

more offense and more "action."

I was at a minor league game last month with pitch clock, not so many pitching changes, but the game still lasted longer than the Yankees /Jays game on at the same time because the game was 11-5 or something like that.

Offense makes games go longer, but as we see in football, nobody cares. Americans just don't wanna spend hours out of their day watching smart strategy and defense.

These infielders are gonna have to start showing range again.
Shoutout to Rey Ordonez.
It's also crazy how hitters just never adapted to these shifts.

They didn't wanna adapt because HR's get you paid, or at least that was the prevailing thought.

I can't wait to see the pitcher who attempts to quick pitch for a strike as soon as the catcher throws it to them.

I feel like they are wilding a little with the pitch clock. Not that it shouldn't be a thing but when you look at pitchers tempos without runners on and with runners on, so many are not close. They should wean them on it a bit imo. Add a second or two.

Kenley Jansen taking 26 seconds/31 seconds to throw a pitch:dead:
