This is the fairest criticism of Strong. It's not a fireable offense but you can't make that same mistake again. Wasted 8 months we could have been working in a new OC. That's 15% of his contract. Nobody got time for that.

Our best recruits right now are all receivers. I hope we hold on to them, especially dikkson.

I don't think the WR recruits will be bothered that there position coach is now OC. If I was a WR I would look at that as a plus.

Sup brehs. I come in here every now and then to see how my brother Strong is doing. I think ND is overrated but they're still a good team...regardless that Texas loss was ugly. The seat hot for Strong now? Boosters still trying to get him got?

You guys think he'll get a 4th year or is next year the end...

Practice report that was just posted on IT:
Practice Report - 9/9/15

By: Jesus Shuttlesworth

I've got a quick update from practice last night with a couple of tidbits about what coaches are saying about the personnel.

First, as we reported in the Humidor, changes had to be made at the OC position. At the end of the day it was Charlie's decision, but the pressure top to bottom to demote Shawn Watson was simply too intense to ignore after Saturday's debacle. Enter Jay Norvell who was seemingly "warming up in the bullpen" the day he was hired. We noted in Monday's article that Tyrone Swoopes probably needed Bryan Harsin more than we'll ever know -- well Jerrod Heard needs Jay Norvell at least as much and that was apparent yesterday in practice.

We're told Heard outperformed Swoopes and probably received the preponderance of the snaps with the 1's in yesterday's practice. We're also told by someone close to the coaching staff that Norvell "wants" Heard to start this Saturday and Tuesday's practice bears that out. It looks like Heard will get every opportunity to take the reins this week in Norvell's new look offense.

That's the good news, it seems.

The bad news is that there were no "tweaks" to the offensive line yesterday. Evidently the same starting OL took the field as a 1st team unit. We'll be keeping tabs on this situation as the week progresses, but if you're looking for changes here, sorry.

We are told that the offensive line played "s0-so" yesterday, which is far from a ringing endorsement.

The coaches are coaching like every team from here on out will blitz the hell out of this bunch which isn't rocket surgery. Look for about a dozen screen passes come Saturday according to one source close to the team. According to the source, "Coach Traylor is fired up right now."

After review of the Notre Dame film, the decision to demote Watson was academic. We probably ran less than 20% of the stuff we worked on leading up to the game. John Burt, for example, ran maybe five different routes the entire game and he's our game breaker. The offensive game plan was way too basic with months to prepare, and Strong had no choice but to make a change.

Defensively, Kris Boyd was told his snaps are about to go way up. He got 1st team snaps at corner yesterday and should see the field this Saturday in that capacity. One source says, "they can't afford to keep his talent off the field. They need him now."

The team was working on run fits yesterday in anticipation of Rice's ground attack this Saturday. They feel they can turn Rice over and make some big plays on defense.

Finally, John Bonney was dinged with an ankle injury against Notre Dame, but he should be good to go for Saturday.

The fact that Norvell wants to play Heard is an improvement. Who knows how it play out, but it's clear Swoopes isn't the answer. If Heard isn't, the sooner we find out, the better so we can get the QB that the program needs.

With the O-line, it's going to be mediocre to bad for a while. You have two starting freshman on it.

Alex Dunlap from OB and some guy some HD (ex Texas linemen) graded the line to be average. And like I saw with my own two eyes, Tyrone did have time to throw, at times, but was just terrible (overthew Armanti on the 5 route going across the middle wide open)

I think Watson will be as good as gone after this season to which the entire city of Austin will help pack his bags. I think Wickline will be gone as well. I'm also glad to see that Heard got first team reps.

This is reminding me of Garrett's early years and the mistake he made with Rob Ryan.

I distinctly remember Armanti's WTF reaction after that play.

look at this SOB.

if this bum stayed HC and ash went down in the first game just as last year went, i would go out on a limb and say his squad wouldn't have won more then 3 games. panthro gave him faux props when he made the comment about the cupboard not being bare.....but it was. that lame did a disservice to that school, the players and the fans.

The Louisville board is clowning Charlie right now because of how rigid he is. Cause truth be told Teddy Bridgewater should have started the first game there as well, but sometimes Charlie has a conservative mindset.

They point out during the game against Auburn how Petrino said fukk it and roll with true freshman (just arrived in June) Lamar Jackson. Jackson balled out and is now the starter. Still not a great thrower and raw as hell. But he's going with the most upside.

Something they dont understand why Charlie isnt doing at Texas. Go with Heard/Locksley now. Let them sink or swim. Find out whose going to be in the competition with the incoming freshman. Swoopes (I hate to pile on) is just not the answer and never will. He's Texas version of Blake Bell, but still playing QB.

Time to find out what Heard/Locksley are made of.

I might pull my hair out if I see Swoopes one more time. Ride and die with Heard/Locksley for the rest of the year. I think Strong is loyal to Swoopes b/c he puts in the work behind the scenes. He just freezes up when the lights come on.
