Yeah he did. Although Burton said by midseason lol. Watson should not have not been retained after that Arkansas performance.

Yea breh, Traylor is straight out of HS, meh move but what more can you expect after game 1 in the season. Surely can't fire anyone and hire a big name now.

This is the fairest criticism of Strong. It's not a fireable offense but you can't make that same mistake again. Wasted 8 months we could have been working in a new OC. That's 15% of his contract. Nobody got time for that.

Our best recruits right now are all receivers. I hope we hold on to them, especially dikkson.

The class yall are thinking about was the '06 class that changed Mack's recruiting philosophy. That class had huge talent, but very few of them stuck. Lots of them in jail right now.

why did he get fired at OU?

well, he was kind of a lamb b/c he was "Co-OC" with Heupel.

But really him getting fired was based on Sterling Sheppard getting hurt. When Sheppard went down, our passing game went to sh*t the rest of the year. Norvell was faulted for not having the other WRs ready to step up....although much of that was Trevor knight having tunnel vision on Sterling and nobody else.

When Bob let Heupel go & went after Lincoln Riley, there was gonna be no more "co" OC, so Norvell got the boot too.

Jay Norvell as Asst OC or Co-OC at OU ('08-'14)
'08 - 51.1 ppg, 547.9 ypg
'09 - 31.1 ppg, 423.8 ypg
'10 - 37.2 ppg, 481.4 ypg
'11 - 39.5 ppg, 512.3 ypg
'12 - 38.2 ppg, 497.8 ypg
'13 - 32.9 ppg, 423.0 ypg
'14 - 33.6 ppg, 467.7 ypg

I mentioned it earlier this year when he was hired. I would be completely satisfied if Norvell ran the same Offense at UT that he ran at OU.
