do you see the excuses they making on the shag? that place is more hornsfans than they think. missing on chaisson is a huge failure.
Yeah i saw it exactly at 10:49PM when news was breaking out that Chiasson was picking LSU.. literally just turned my phone off and said fukk this those little bytches are being blind af. I seen more than a few people call out Herman...only person going hard right now is randolph, but he always screams at the sky so who knows.

bro Herman had been recruiting him and had a relationship with him for 1-2 years now, and has been Texas coach way longer than Strong was leading up to NSD.

This was a fukking whiff plain and simple... now there are a few reports saying BJ Foster has ohio state as his #1.

Its not the end of the world I'm just ready for spring practice and junior day.

BJ Foster listed OSU as his number 1 in November but nobody heard much from him since. I think one of them (Nahlin) said that he could be a commit to Texas on junior day.

He missed on Chaisson and I know he realizes this. You could see it on his face that he fukked up with that one. I have confidence that it won't happen again. The thing with Herman is that he may have been at Texas longer than Strong was as Texas before he got settled. Strong though IIRC, had his staff together before Herman had his staff together. Herman's staff wasn't finalized until early January. Strong's was finalized in December 2013.

Don't want to make it seem like I'm making excuses for him because he did not close well at all in this class. But I'll give him a pass on this transition class because he only had what, five commits before he got there? Herman didn't have as many decommits as Strong did when he came in. Remember, Texas lost Olaka, Emmanuel Porter, Henderson, etc. Herman only lost Carson.

This is what Mike Roach said on Hornsports (which IMO is a great site to follow):

The early feedback from 2018 prospects is strong so far. Job 1 will be to hit the ground running in this class and get off to a fast start. Texas is high up early for several elite guys including BJ Foster (top player in the state), and if they can land someone early they should be able to get some momentum going.

So his approach to recruiting will be a mixture of Mack and Strong I bet. He won't wait long or until NSD to get recruits but he will start early like Mack did. If he gets Foster, that will set a precedent IMO.

I personally think Texas will win 9 (hopefully 10 with bowl game) next season. Roster from top down is solid af, and a lot of players still haven't been maximized.

We'll be iight. As a Texas fan we're just so use to getting ours even during down years, but there has been too many since 2010.

I'm young but I remember the rose bowl's, Quans leap vs tOSU etc etc. These kids now a days don't remember when Texas was all over ESPN doing big shyt (aside from Mack bending over for Stoops). It was simply UTs turn to be humbled :francis:

hopefully Herman can get this team up to speed and play solid in the fall... I'm kinda worried the growing pain with his pro spread offense may take a while to get accustomed too coming from the Briles veer and shoot.

I'm rambling man... NSD 17 please just die. #HookEm forever.

if Texas wins 9, I am quite sure a top 10 class will follow in 2018 and I think he definitely can win that many. I have great confidence in his in game coaching and his preparation as well. In fact, if Texas walks out of SC with a win, the eyes of Texas recruits will be on Austin.

I actually agree with both of these posts. I think next season we win 9 games and I believe the '18 recruiting class will be much better. That being said, '17 was a "special" year for in-state recruiting, a lot of the top guys in Texas this year were also the top guys at their position nationally. Some say it was top heavy, but it's those Chaisson, Dobbins, Little, Okudah type of guys that you need to ultimately beat Bama/OSU/USC/LSU in a potential playoff game. I mean damn you were the hottest coach in the country and given breaking news coverage from ESPN for a month....why can't you convince one of these guys (just one) on your vision for Texas football? The fact that he couldn't convince just one of these blue chips to stay home and enjoy the fruits of having 80% of our production returning next year is concerning. Little, Dobbins, and Chaisson are the main three I expected to get regardless of 5-7, strong firing, etc.
