I guess it's funny, but there has been major facilities mismanagement at UT, which is doing the coaches no favor. The first step has been decided though and it looks like the Arena site has been chosen and designs will apparently start rolling in this spring. This should free up everything else and allow some long-term flexibility that fits within the masterplan.

This arena location provides the option to move the practice facility adjacent to the stadium and relocate the swim center. Thankfully the masterplan is winning. This will make the situation better in the future and make building new facilities easier. First step to getting rid of a long time deterrent for UT.
But I learned how to swim at the jamail center. :mjcry:

D-FW high school coach claims Charlie Strong was 'horrible hire,' alienated Texas high school coaches | SportsDay

Brent Whitson (@WBWhitson) on Twitter

@satam55 @rantanamo @macpat at least this guy put his name on the quote. pretty funny tho considering Herman already has more than two dozen offers out to OOS players and SGP's best player, Okudah, is going to Ohio State.

Don't remember Okudah even looking at a Texas school. Don't care where he's from, he's not from Ohio. Will be interesting to see if he pushes Atanza Vongor our way. Vongor seemed to really like Strong.

"You get here and the first thing you do is go to Florida for recruits. ... All it did was cost him about 2,500 head coaches at Texas high schools."

Oh boohoo. This is an embarrassing statement. Talk about entitlement issues and didn't Strong hire Traylor to recruit Texas and he has strong Texas high school connections. Hell if Strong stayed, Texas likely gets Wilson and maybe Browning. Stupid quote.

He's right.

You get shut out by Iowa State.
You lose to Kansas.
You didn't even challenge for a conference title the last three years.
Got blown out by TCU the last three years.
You finish 6-7, 5-7, and 5-7 the last three years.

That's not the resume of a top program. That's the resume of an Iowa State and Herman's job is to pull them out of those type of results.

Herman better get his shyt together. Strong was landing top 10 classes. I'll accept no excuses from Herman. He better get UT to 8 wins minimum this year. And have a top 10 recruiting class in 2018.

:comeon: With how much hype he got while he was as UH, this is a disappointment.

I get that. But this is the state the program was in since the lost to Kansas so any coach would have had problems. I guess the thing that can make you feel better is Harbaugh's first class ranked 51st at Michigan.

I thought Herman was nabbed for his coaching abilities and not his recruiting...

Cause Charlie was a great recruiter he just didn't produce results on the field...

I'll say this. The big 12 being an offensive scoring machine with very minimal defense played and Texas talent leaving the state with at least one program leaving for greater pastures (one going to the SEC) reminds me of SWC circle early 90s. This was when Texas was beating Houston 45-38 and beating Baylor 63-35. A down Texas also had Baylor and Houston compete for SWC titles and a down Texas 25 years later has teams like TCU and Baylor compete for Big 12 titles. This is what the Big 12 is and is a great reason why I hate this conference.
