being under the wing of the biggest rapper is prolly better than being signed. i mean weezy a huge success and all but i don't think he gonna be taken seriously when alls said and done. and he is the best of all of em.

Just my opinion.

I think Mack Maine, Jae Mills, Boo & Gotti, Lil' Twist, Shanell, Lil' Chuckee, Gudda Gudda & Christina Millian would disagree with you... :myman:

I'm defending him because I respect the struggle the nikka had to go through to end up being one of the biggest artists in the game when nikkaz like you try to downplay someones hard work.

Dude was damn near broke in 2007... he spent all his Degrassi money on his mom & his music career & nobody wanted to fukk with him. Every label said there was no market for a Canadian rapper who has been exposed on TV. So when damn near every label in the game closes their door in your face you know what that feels like? You know what that would do mentally to a person? Dude could've said fukk it & quit but instead he took it on his on shoulders & have proved the haters wrong...

It's the same reason I don't like Kanye as a person but dude gets all my respect because nobody believed in dude at all, not even Jay who has even admitted that all he wanted was some beats. When people doubt you & tell you you're not good enough and try to knock you down time & time again & pass u up the average nikka would quit.

Drake didn't, he overcame being the first suburban bred canadian rapper to work in the american market & is now on top. I respect dudes grind because unlike what you believe he wasn't a plant & even Baby wasn't fukking with dude when Wayne picked him up cuz he thought he was soft...

Dude was on TV yeah but the nikka went broke & faced a lot of odds & haters to get where he's at through his hard work...

I respect anybody who works hard to get where they're going so yeah it does suck when nikkaz like you try to downplay someones success because they can't accept the fact that maybe dude actually deserves his success... :stopitslime:

But like I said... if it was so easy... :mjpls:
That was beautiful breh :wow:

but at the end of the day things will pan out however they will so i could care less if lil'wayne bats .050 when it comes to creating superstars.

Because people don't understand the different levels of being signed.

Yes, he was with Young Money...

No, Cash Money was not backing him & neither was Universal...

Being on YM doesn't mean you're on CM... just like being on G.O.O.D. Music doesn't mean shyt... Big Sean & Cyhi are both on G.O.O.D. but Sean is on Def Jam & Cyhi is on Atlantic... being solely on G.O.O.D. doesn't mean shyt, ask GLC, Really Doe, Farnsworth, etc...

Pusha T signed to GOOD in March 2011 & but didn't sign to a Major until Aug. 2011...

Drake records a mixtape using his own money & some of Wayne's resources...

Drake goes on tour with Wayne promoting the mixtape & in every city Wayne stops through he brings Drake on stage & tells crowds of 10,000+ that Drake is the future...

Thousands run home to Google Drake & find songs on him...

They run & tell their friends about Drake...

Footage of Drake with Wayne on stage is seen by hundreds of thousands on Youtube...

Drake's name is being brought up on forums, etc & people are downloading his former mixtapes to create opinions on him...

Girls notice he raps about women a lot & sings & thus tell more girls about him...

The buzz for Drake gets to an insane scale & now all of a sudden Interscope & Atlantic are interested in Drake...

Universal learns of other label interests & informs YMCM that they are going to sign Drake...

Drake doesn't like Sylvia Rhone so rejects but doesn't realize he has no choice since he's YM affiliated & signed to HHS1987 Management which is Wayne, Kanye & Nicki Minaj management...

"So Far Gone" is released & Wayne uses his street team (and Hip Hop & Gee) & connects to get Drakes mixtape in as many DJ's, Radio Hosts hands as possible...

Drakes mixtape gets downloaded by the thousands...

Drake performs everywhere, songs being requested on radio...

"Best I Ever Had" starts gaining a buzz from Major artists such as Kanye & Jay mentioning it...

Drake is officially the next big thing...

Drake signs with Universal 3 months after "So Far Gone" is released...

wow nikka, wow.

firstly, Cyhi is signed to Def Jam.

secondly,GLC, Really Doe and Farnsworth were no longer on GOOD music when they eventually released their albums (i dont know why you keep using them as examples).

Thirdly, everything else you wrote only supports the fact that Drake was not actually an independant artist at the time that So Far Gone dropped. Everything you have written actually verifies that he had a major push behind him from Wayne and Young Money, who he was signed with. You do realize this right? Wayne used his finances and connections to promote his artist, that right there is the exact point. Drake was signed to Young Money and they helped him build his buzz. I dont know how much more clear it has to be.

He'd play me beats that I had no choice but to write to.
I've never been in the studio with a major producer and worked before.
I've been giving my music away [for free] for so long, a rapper that's singing that was on a TV show. " 2009

On a side note, I spit out my damn drink when I read the words struggle being attached to drake. The only thing drake has struggled with his keeping his homosexuality under wraps.

Adding to this, his parents were fairly wealthy, guy lived in upper middle class and up his whole life.

Young Money is *NOT* a Major Label... that is *NOT* a Major Push... that's my point. Disturbing The Peace is *NOT* a Major... neither is G.O.O.D...

Ya'll cats sit on these boards all day & debate music & understand absolutely nothing about the actual business...

Young Money doesn't have the resources a Major has & has failed time & time again with the same resources that Drake had available... Drake just happened to be a star. All this "he was a plant" bullshyt takes away what dude actually accomplished because Tyga has been on YM longer & hasn't seen half of Drake's success with the same resources...

Yes, being with Wayne helped Drake create a buzz & I don't know anybody who would deny that but Wayne pushes YM artists all the time, Drake just happened to catch on to the people, we could easily be talking about Lil' Twist right now if shyt were different.

Dude had the same "push" that any other YM artist had... he just happened to stand out & win... this whole "industry plant" talk is bullshyt...

He wasn't in the studio with any Major Producers... dude was virtually an unknown... being signed to an imprint doesn't mean shyt. Just because he was affiliated with Wayne doesn't mean cats like Timbaland & Scott Storch were just gonna embrace dude & work with him, you gotta work up the ranks...

Some of you nikkaz really have no idea how the music industry works... :laff:

I'll wait.

Man I'm done... it was fun tryna school ya'll nikkaz on how some shyt works... but I guess that's why ya'll don't work in the industry & can't figure out why your favorite underground artist ain't doing shyt... :mjpls:

It's been fun... :myman:

And like I said... since Drakes success is so fabricated... why ain't more nikkaz that are "signed" doing it... :mjpls:

For the record, young money is a subsidiary of cash money records. They will never, ever, release an album without a cash money and universal logo attached to it. Because they cant.Any artist signed to young money is signed to cash money, who is distributed by Universal. It's pretty simple.

are y'all hammered? By the time so far gone dropped drake was already runnin in da same circles as most southern artists, thx mostly to j princes son. 2007 when comeback season dropped is when Drake started to get big. but thats jus up here in tdot, new york is madd late on the mixtape gm and discovering new young artists. Thats why the south been runnin ish for da last decade.
