:scust: at people caping hard for Eminem in this thread. People are still in denial about how overrated he is.

Not people, me, and all of my points were salient. Don't do the sublims, we're friends (maybe not,:( you're cool though)

- Vince was right to not let the DJ dictate his opinion.
- Kanye west is not in the GOAT rapper conversation, he is not great at rapping.
- 2pac dropped 7 fukking albums BEFORE he died...how is his catalog too short, it's not too short, it's a means of degrading Pac to champion Kante.
- Only a dikkhead contraian would try to make a LBJ/MJ comparison about geriatric Jordan vs. LeBeta bron on an accelerated steroid program..
- Rappers like Kendrick and J Cole, who are at the forefront of the genre have cited Eminem as an influence (they be lying though)
- Influencing the way people rap >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Fashion trends and blatant biting which USED to be a sin in this game.
- The mythos of Eminem IS overrated

Come at me.

Yep, Like vince said (and a A LOT OF ARTISTS AGREE WITH THAT)... I don't usually compare rappers across genres but I think it's fair to say what kendrick and kanye have done with rap on their albums, especially TPAB and MBDTF, is Radioheadesque in their boldness, confidence, and beauty. Like Radiohead, Kendrick and kanye definitely take the impressionist approach that Radiohead frequently does where it may take a few listens and a few steps back to get the full picture. It may also require an appreciation for all different black musical genres and a deep musical knowledge to understand how great the music really is. Theyre true musicians with impeccable taste.
I was talking about that with my homies and co-workers at RollingStone...Rappers have a certain limitation that kanye and kendrick don't have. They usually hire some of the most incredibly talented musicians and writers that can bring more to the table than the typical beat maker can. Their most recent albums would literally introduce you to more complex musical ideas.

Their most recent albums would have been dope if it was straight hip hop but once they dipped into the ideas black musicians have helped to pioneer over the past 100 years...shyt was over.

If nothing else,Eminem saved Dr. Dre's floundering label and brought aftermath to be a power house.

Aftermath was in shambles before Eminem's success. We wouldn't have gotten 2001,get rich or die trying or even good kidd Madd city without Eminem :manny:

Anybody denying that much is just hating :manny:

Kanye has influenced the way modern artists make music, and not just in hip hop.

Yeah I remember Drake trying to weasel his way out of the tent fiasco by saying he wanted to use a similar recording process to Kayne's...

:francis:

But yea gon head...point it up, but understand I never made an argument against him influencing how other people in the music industry take credit for other people's talent, so you're gonna have to start AND finish that argument if that is your wish.

Just a warning though..if you do start pointing up names please try to avoid bringin up nikkas that "sound" like or were influenced by Kante only to say somebodies name who was behind creating the music that you liked from Kante's brand anyway.

bro...a rapper influencing other genres and other people in the music industry is far more impressive than influencing some rappers lol..
Over the last yearss, 808 has become a touchstone for musicians interested in exploring emotional and artistic dimensions. Without it, these artists wouldn't be the same:

-Purity Ring (electronic band)
-Chance
-Childish
-The Weeknd
-Travis Scott
-Future
-Drake
-Lil Durk
-Chief Keef
-Soulja Boy,

Without College Dropout there's no KL EP, Cole World, Acid Rap,...

His influence can also be seen in Justin Bieber and 88 Keys music

And Kanye West's fingerprints can be found all over Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Beyoncé, Common, Lupe Fiasco, John Legend, Nas, Scarface, T.I., Lil Wayne, The Game, Cam'Ron, Ludacris, Twista, Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys recent music

.if you are co-signing the notion that people blatantly copying your content or wearing your clothes should out-weight you having an effect on the fukking foundation of the art form you are TOY and I don't respect you or anything you have to say about rap music or Hip Hop, don't quote me @ me or even fukking...look at my avatar, you aren't allowed.

That being said, props to him for not letting that guy shove Eminem into HIS opinion, that was some fakkit shyt and he should be ashamed of himself.
@ the red :deadrose::dead:

- Really don't give a shyt about any of that.
- No real specific examples of how he did..anything besides spearhead the 808's project.
- I brought up Cudi's name to preemptively strike any of that bu bu bu 808's bullshyt.
- 808's is NOT a rap album
- Spear heading an an album that has a sound hand crafted by another nikka does not make you a better or more influential rapper than say...Kool G Rap
- The overwhelming majority of the people you listed are rappers.
- Even if everybody decided to exploit Kid Cudi for a full length studio album and call it XYZ because of Kante...he still wouldn't be great at RAPPING and thus exempt from greatest rapper anything.

- I do thank and respect you for an actual reply.

what about biggie catalog being too short?

Biggie got enough to be the goat.

2 albums(one of which being a double disc album) + all the features he's had that's enough material.

Both albums being classics & memorable features.

Literally put bad boy on the map in the 90s.

Thats where you're wrong lol...they don't get praise because no one else is doing it, but because of how amazing it is. Many all time greats have already commented on how they have some of the best composed music, in any genre. You not understanding what make their music great doesn't make it any less goat.

You have to understand that Kanye and TPAB filled a vacuum. Who else was making beats the way that album and Kanye did it? They cornered the market with their releases and deviated from beats of their modern rap.

As I've said their content doesn't match the level of production they're feeding us. The fan base of rap is tired of trap beats. Trap lyrics. These two gave what isn't present.

Yeah the production on TPAB it's good in rap's standards. It also was a standard production without experimentation.

There are only three artists with complete discographies that are capable of being on MJ's level: Kate Bush, Radiohead and Björk.

TPAB did not transcend a genre with classic music. TPAB has a good backing with no lyrical capabilities to advance the music backing it. His Tumblr Black Lives Matter raps can fool some, but not ones with ears.
