He says:
-Kendrick Lamar is the best rapper alive, "and It's not even close", Kanye West is up there too (RIGHT NOW, based on the music, bodies of work, influences, everything)
-Kanye is higher than Eminem on the all time list
-Kanye, Jay and Snoop are goats. Nobody is trying to copy Eminem's sound
-Tupac and Biggie are top 5 but their catalog are too short compared to other goats (Kanye, Jay, etc)
-He talks about Snoop still influencing rappers more than 20 years later
-Says Eminem might sell a lot, but we gotta separate commerce and art when we talk about music. You don't get in the museum by having a lot of money.
-There's only a few rappers that are about the quality of the music, his examples would be Kanye and Kendrick
LBC rapper Vince Staples stopped by Power 106's The Cruz Show, and J Cruz spawned a debate over who deserves the "greatest rapper alive" title. Cruz confidently throws Eminem's name into the mix, but Vince disagrees, mentioning Eminem's recent slump as a deterrent. "We could say Michael Jordan, but he's not beating Lebron one on one," says Staples. "If we're talking about right now, it's Kendrick, easy, not even close."
Staples also throws Kanye's name in the mix, citing his overall influence on art and pop culture as an important factor. While Cruz maintains Em is still deserving of the title due to his massive record-breaking sales, Staples still thinks Kanye has Slim Shady beat. "We gotta separate commerce and art when we talk about music," says Staples. "You don't get in the museum by having a lot of money."
