Anyone claiming colorism isn’t real than can you defend the terms redbone and yellowbone? Why do they exists? Or how about the paperbag test?
Colorism is very real but black woman are completely full of shyt on the issue because they’re only concerned with it from a superficial selfish aspect. This is proven because black women who are the biggest colorism advocates are pro-swirl not pro black. Black women that whine about colorism are rarely if ever truly pro black. Usually they’re color struck themselves and they project their self hate on others. It’s the victimhood hustle. Darker skinned black women will project their self hate on black men as a way to deflect and shield themselves from criticism for putting lighter/white skin on a pedestal themselves. If you’re pro swirl then you have absolutely no leg to stand on when complaining about colorism. Serena, Venus, Jodie, etc and all black women like them are all full of shyt. Those women chose white boys because they’re self hating and color struck themselves.
We have to start acknowledging harsh truths. Black women are more color struck than black men and this is evidence by darker skinned black men being much more comfortable in their own skin. Dark skinned black men aren’t running around with white or Asian male textured hair glued/sewn to their scalp and all that. The average black male doesn’t look as if he’s in competition with white or Asian men. This is why darker skinned black men aren’t as concerned with colorism.
Due to the fact that women in general have an inherent nature to use their looks/attractiveness to benefit themselves coupled with the fact that black women aren’t pro black and are on some “get in where I fit in” shyt, they’re much more effected by the European standard of beauty. This puts darker skinned black women at the BIGGEST disadvantage because they’re the women who’s natural features are farthest from the white standard of beauty. So when society judges women by the current white standard of beauty, darker skinned black women will automatically be deemed least attractive.
Black women are perpetuating their own beauty oppression by trying to conform to the white standard of beauty. Shaming black men for preferring lighter skinned women above darker skinned women is nonsensical when you’ve bought into the white standard of beauty yourselves. On average a lighter skinned black chic will be more attractive than a darker skinned black chic because the lighter skinned black chics don’t have to go as far to reach the white standard of beauty. Euro/Asian textured weave/wigs, light colored contacts, blonde hair color, etc all generally looks better on lighter skinned women vs darker skinned women. That’s a harsh truth. This is where the constant whining about colorism and the overall resentment/self within darker skinned black women comes into play. They’re mad at the game(systematic white supremacy) but they hate on the players(black men and women who are victims just like they are).
Black women have to reclaim their natural beauty and create their own beauty standards which is obviously easier said than done, but it’s the only way to truly counteract colorism. Colorism will always breed self hate as long as we as blacks are buying into the standard of beauty that we’ve been born and raised in.
