NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Swv wasn’t supposed to close out, they went first in the second half so xscape had the last song, that’s why xscape kept saying it’s not over/they’re not closing it out.

And you trippin, first, has any other VZ had a crowd like that other than jeezy/gucci? And had that been neutral ground, people would’ve yelled out for the same thing, if weak got cut after the first verse both groups and the crowd would’ve been like “that ain’t it chief, give them the full song”

lastly, I don’t think most people even give af about them being from NY, had they not mentioned it tonight it never would’ve crossed my mind. they wasn’t some NY representers musically, I don’t think I ever knew or cared where they were from during their run.
I’m not saying it was about SWV being from NY. It was about Xscape being from ATL. That shyt was an audience with an ATL crowd. They ATL DJ who 100% catered to them all night. Playing NOTHING but they music for the most part. And whom also was treating the shyt like it was an Xscape solo concert or some shyt. Yea. U right. Alotta people in that crowd might not have known SWV was from NY. But they DAMN sure knew they WASNT from ATL. And that’s what mattered. Why u think SWV felt the need to shout it out in they performance? Xscape to a lesser extent and especially their DJ was talkin that ATL shyt the ENTIRE night. With the way these Versuz went anytime somebody from the south didn’t get they way since last year. Dating all the way back to Mannie vs Scott Storch. U better be glad there wasn’t no home court advantage crowds. shyt woulda gotten ugly a LONG time ago. South and specifically ATL been acting like they had something to prove and been acting like sore losers since the beginning of Versuz. From the artists(such as T.I and 2 Chainz etc etc goin on they South rants) to the fans. Tell me I’m lying. Lol. U got people in this very thread from the south saying the same shyt I’m saying about SWV getting done dirty by that venue. shyt I got fam from the South texting me about the battle saying SWV got done dirty.

And to bring home why the battle made sense, this interviewer from 1993 makes a SWV comparison out the gate and listen to JD's response:

Everywhere...You never there.
Son that was wack. In no other Versuz would some shyt like that have went down and been cool. That’s on the fukk ass DJ. Then SWV was supposed to close the shyt out and Xscape STILL came back with another song. SWV got done greasy. Not greasy enough to not enjoy the show. But greasy enough to see the bullshyt. Coko clearly wasn’t feelin that bullshyt.
Damn spliz , you were kinda saucy last night, huh?

:salute: to a good showing from two classic groups

:salute: to ATL and the whole south too :usure:

This.

For all intents and purposes, JD wasn't associated with Atlanta until later, when it really became cool to rep Atlanta.

this is false.

youre speaking from a hometown standpoint, which i understand.

but when you talk about putting something on the map, JD was the main face of atlanta to your average hip-hop fan.
people also thought da brat was from atlanta because of JD.

when people thought atlanta hip-hop, the first thing that came to mind was so so def. JD put it on the map.

I own the CD.... But I wouldn't call it classic.... :francis:

quality-wise, its up there for debate.

some of the biggest '90s semi-underground slow jams are on there.
and the rest of the album bangs str8 thru.

its certainly better than some of the mainstream albums that are propped up as classics.

plus, in a versus, they stole the show on keith sweat's two biggest mainstream hits.

I’m not stressing anything I’m just making my point. I’m not even stressing the ATL DJ playing southern music. He was garbage with whatever he played. I’m just pointing out the bullshyt hypocrisy that goes on.

its revenge for the mannie fresh fiasco. i wouldnt even battle a southern artist if i was from the east coast, after that debacle.
i can understand it from that standpoint.

on the other hand, atlanta been trying to be the NEW new york for the longest. basically turning into everything they used to hate about new yorkers, even at the expense of low-balling other southern cities.
it will never work because they think they have way more clout/influence than they actually do, and arent respected like that.

their r&b is up there tho, but theyre gonna drag it down with the foolery.
