The point I'm trying to make is that Apple's competitors will now have to spend extra money on R&D. It will just push the prices on Apple's competitors products higher to cover cost. Someone will pay, and it's not going to be the shareholders.

The possibility of Apple products coming down in price is definitely out the window.

Well that's a good thing.. They need to spend money on R&D and try to develop something new.. They can't keep copying apple breh. It's time for something new and this is a good push in that direction, every fukiin phone look the same today

It's negative because it thwarts innovation. Tech companies are gonna start waring on who did this and that and who's allowed to use this and that instead of focusing on how they can work together to improve for the future.

Next you'll see Apple head hunting for HTC which will force Google to go after Apple with Motorola. And in the end it may be a crazy mess of lawsuits and shyt slinging. None of that benefits the consumer at all.

Patents are supposed to promote innovation by revealing inventions and providing protection for the idea for a certain amount of time. Usually we would all stand to benefit from this because we learn about the invention and the inventor can license or produce their idea with the protection of the government.

But in this case, the patents in questions are not innovations and are too general so we gain nothing by these ideas being revealed in the form of the patent (in fact they don’t even describe the most important part which is the implementation) and innovation is slowed because one company can restrict the other from making a certain product or force them to design work-arounds.

Apple's the only one not changing their look over the years.

Let's not forget Apple's copying of Android's notification system, Intents, and many other things in Google's OS. But whatever everybody else needs to bow down to Apple and their 100% completely original designs.

Yeah but I think what Sammy thought like I said in the second part of my statement was that alot of those patents were kind of bs. This is really one of the few cases where Apple has won solidly. In other parts of the world this case is failing and I even think both Apple and Samsung have had products banned in Korea for copying each other.

i've had my S3 mistaken for an iPhone twice this week alone.

See thats what I don't like and thats not being innovative, its trying to confuse the consumer into thinking they are buying a product similar to another.

And trust me, if Samsung has to go back to R&D, I doubt that cost will be passed onto the consumer in a already crowded cell phone market. They won't out price themselves. Notice how the price of all Android tablets are starting to come down? they see they can't charge the same as Apple.

And Apple prices won't change, have you seen how much their laptops cost? Apple does what it wants to do.

This is a good thing and i'm excited to see what Samsung comes up with, if its something good and different, it'll force both companies to step it up.

I kinda wrote that wrong. I meant that once Apple will go after HTC again then go full on against Google. Google's and Apple are already going at each other over Motorola.

All of this was going on two years ago too but you're right since phones are the biggest things on the planet right now it's major.
