Wow, people hate tf outta this show.

Lost me at the fact that theres no scooby in this.
race swapping is always gonna get people mad

the jokes and writing are off more times but its still a bit entertaining. They also played on the fan-theory of velma being lesbian (her and daphne making out episode 2) and I think that was the last straw for fans (in regards to keeping it close to original scooby doo)

honestly the show feels like its trying to hard to be an edgy adult comedy instead of just being genuinely funny. Shows like Venture Bros or Family Guy go to the full extent of being problematic and funny. Velma kinda half-asses it.

The whole reason i wasn't into this as well. I was like no scooby? pass, this makes it even more odd from a creative standpoint.
So we only made it 15 mins in, to do something like this , every fukking character has to be dope , Eve thug was a try hard, funniest shyt was the roaches fukking

That's why I've never gotten down with all this race swapping shyt. It's all an illusion, studios saying "Here nikka damn!"

Instead of giving us our own stories, they just drop somebody who'll just be a footnote in a long line of whiteness.
It's pandering and many of us been calling it out for what it is for a few years now but when we did we were told we were self hating or homophobic

I was looking to see why Rottentomatoes had Velma higher than Kaleidoscope.... I like when stuff like this happens cause it let's you know who's getting paid to write reviews.

The same thing happened when Netflix dropped that Will Smith movie Blight. It wasn't that good, but mofos was trying to start a "worst movie of the year" conversation

The showrunner for She-Hulk didn't read the comics, the showrunner for the Witcher despises the books, and it's clear the people involved in Velma don't give a fukk about Scooby Doo. These are often women - and usually white women - who were unsuccessful at getting their own ideas or shows greenlit. So they are given an established IP which they then use to essentially make the show they really wanted to make, while shytcanning the IP. And when the fans of the IP complain or revolt, the creatives start talking about racism and sexism. Then the studio comes to their aid and attack all the fans - instead of just the problematic ones. Rinse and repeat.
Great reply.

Velma is either bisexual or lesbian depending on the show. In this show, she's bisexual like how she is (without showing or saying it) in most of the Scooby Doo media.
She's (Velma) in relationship with Shaggy in some of them. And Daphne is ALWAYS sneaking off/romantically involved with Fred.

This shyt is Marvel making Iceman gay with no build up or hints, but doing it just because they could.

At least Harley Quinn has a history of being bisexual in the comics since she appeared

It's like Family Guy in that they fire off a ton of jokes and a good portion of them miss but some hit. It's still entertaining enough to watch but it isn't a quality show. I mean some shows are trashy but still manage to entertain and this is one of them. Personally I hope it makes it. I think deep down this show wishes it was as funny as Harley Quinn.

What's ironic about Velma's sexuality is that when the 2000s hit, it was the start where they acknowledging her sexuality with the Scooby Doo live action movie, but couldn't give too much detail on it due it being an kids movie. It wasn't until Mystery Incorporated where they begin to confirm her sexuality.

It's funny how they're calling Velma, an gay icon, despite that from the OG to What's New, Scooby Doo she's straight and Mystery Incorporated to current she's bi. They at least put effort to build it up, as oppose to make it sudden.

i might have to stay away from youtube for a week or so. shyt is completely plastered with Velma reviews/reactions. People cry about the state of modern entertainment, but they make a living from pissing and moaning about it. :russ: At least this got the Wednesday reviews/reactions out the paint.

So many youtubers damn near made their whole career off shytting on The Last Jedi. Some of them joints were legendary tho.

Watched the first episode last night.

Might be one of the worst shows I've watched in a good hot minute. It really does seem to try to borrow from those early Adult Swim shows like Harvey Birdman and Sealab, but all it seems to have actually focused on taking was the cadence of getting jokes off rapidly. They completely seem to have overlooked that one, that style kind've came and went, and two, it worked because it took the whole practice of premise/setup/punchline, and managed to condense it down by having the cycle almost always be occurrence at various points for multiple jokes at once. This just throws out a punchline, and then just runs it into the ground. It's almost like the worst version of Rick and Morty style over explaining of a joke being the joke sometimes.

I'm definitely not watching another episode of it, but credit goes to the stubborn folks that can manage to get through a whole season of it.
