Philly bouls, Trust the Process
IF ITS ABOUT AN INDIAN WOMAN
IN A WORLD WHERE SCOOBY
AND THE OTHERS DONT EXIST
IT IS A DIFFERENT CHARACTER.

THEY LITERALLY COULD
HAVE JUST MADE A MINDY
ANIMATED SERIES.
Again, idk why being indian is a differentiating factor in who Velma is
I also don't see what's so crazy about importing a character from one universe and seeing how they are in another. Putting them in a different situation, setting, etc.
yall that creatively lacking?

I can't speak for anyone else, but my personal thoughts are is that it's incredibly lazy. It comes off looking borderline cynical for Hollywood to greenlight it, and Kaling comes off brainwashed for desiring it. I'm not big on people getting inspiration from characters that look like them. I didn't cry tears of joy because of Black Panther. Salute to their success, but I'm not crossing my arms with fists in the air saying Wakanda. I damn sure don't feel inspiration from white characters. That said, seeing black folks and others desiring these roles looks pathetic to me. Surprised me to see plenty of tweets from Asian folks who feel the same way about this "Velma" scenario. They don't want bread crumbs either. I don't want to see a black 007 when they can create an entirely different character. A black Valkyrie is just downright stupid.

The only thing I respect about it all, is knowing how hard it is to get roles and projects greenlit, I'm glad folks are eating. That's about it though.

:gucci: What kind of Velma is she if there’s no scooby or the rest of the gang

So she’s some random smart chick playing detective? Might as well call her Nancy drew or some shyt :dwillhuh:

Ya'll mad that she's Asian, I just find it funny that she's gonna have a whole show where ScoobyDoo and the gang never existed....

That's like making a Jubilee show in a world where the X-men never existed :mindblown:

I could care less they made her Asian, I just think the show gonna have no plot to go off of
Yeah, that’s so wild to me. Velma’s whole thing is that she’s the skeptical one, and you can’t really be that without the others to bounce off of.

Fred was the leader, Daphne was the damsel, Shaggy and Scooby the cowardly comic relief, and Velma was the smart one always looking for the answer. She’s designed to be a part of an ensemble.

Compared to that nonsense, Velma being Asian doesn’t even register to me.

:gucci:

Nobody was trying to fukk Velma, just like nobody was trying to fukk Snow White. She was the nerdy smart girl, and Daphne was the cute one.

Velma was the one you smash, but don’t tell anyone, and when you see her in public, say what’s up, and keep it moving.
Velma is far and away the most popular Scooby Doo character

bytches ain't dressing up as Daphne for halloween

Man stop:mjlol:

This is not creative which is the entire point

The past decade has been filled with these lazy attempts at remixing characters by trying to pander to demographics and skirt by on a recognizable name.

And they flop more often than not for that very reason. There's nothing under the hood

I think Scoob was a good movie and Velma is Mexican in that:manny: but in Scoob you can see the effort in them making a tangible Scooby Doo property

This is lazy and Mindy Kaling is trash:manny:

Yeah this is literally a show about an Asian girl in America :dead:

with the name of a scooby doo character for the brand boost but wait its 99% not scooby doo related.

It’s like Dragon Ball Z but about Yamcha but no Dragon Balls or martial arts or anyone else, but Yamcha is played by Mexican
