Yeah this is literally a show about an Asian girl in America :dead:

with the name of a scooby doo character for the brand boost but wait its 99% not scooby doo related.

It’s like Dragon Ball Z but about Yamcha but no Dragon Balls or martial arts or anyone else, but Yamcha is played by Mexican

So basically a Mexican baseball-playing panty bandit?? :ohhh:

You'd have to be incredibly lame to be upset about something like this :mjlol:

Although I have no idea why Velma of all characters would get a solo show. Seems like it has little to do with the actual Scooby Doo character and they're just using the name for marketing.

Man stop:mjlol:

This is not creative which is the entire point

The past decade has been filled with these lazy attempts at remixing characters by trying to pander to demographics and skirt by on a recognizable name.

And they flop more often than not for that very reason. There's nothing under the hood

I think Scoob was a good movie and Velma is Mexican in that:manny: but in Scoob you can see the effort in them making a tangible Scooby Doo property

This is lazy and Mindy Kaling is trash:manny:
How you know it's lazy if you've never seen it tho? You can think Mindy Kaling is trash I don't like her either, but her being Indian is irrelevant. Taking the character out of their normal world and environment and putting them into a different one is a creative approach imo, the Indian part of it isn't the creative part but it also doesn't erase who the character is

I'm saying folks are creatively lacking because they're saying Velma cannot be Velma if Scoobie and them aren't present. You can take a character from one world and put them in a different environment and they're still that character

Nothing in my post expressed any issue with race. I even mentioned mexican velma bruh.

And I know its lazy because of the precedent.

We got a decade worth of these copy paste attempts at trying to cash in on a name

Where are you getting East Asian from? There are many different types of Asians. Indians are Asians and always have been breh.
Maybe if you actually read the article you would know what I’m talking about.

It seems like lazy , stereotypical casting to me. Casting an asian fred or a black daphne would have been more daring and would fit the values of a multicultural society.

I like the idea of anybody being able to play any role. But lets not be lazy about it.

Edit: i just noticed the new poster. I agree with the asian daphne. That is the the creative casting i was talking about.
