https://www.reddit.com/r/VelmaNSFW/Don’t really care about what velma’s race is, but who wants or was asking for a Velma solo show lol.
Being Asian doesn't make her an entirely different character, being white isn't Velma's defining aspect
Velma is supposed to be a pawg, not a fat ugly indian chick.
Nobody was trying to fukk Velma, just like nobody was trying to fukk Snow White. She was the nerdy smart girl, and Daphne was the cute one.
Velma was the one you smash, but don’t tell anyone, and when you see her in public, say what’s up, and keep it moving.
How you feel about a black James Bond, breh?
Mindy needs to stop making shows and movies where "ethnic" women (indian/asian) lust after white men. Every single thing she makes is about that , expect this to be no different
First episode Velma patel will be looking for her glasses before a Zac Efron type hands them to her
It was the other way roundNaw you trippin trippin
Johnny Bravo stayed wanting that p*ssy
No Indian, really? It's literally what all Indians in the UK call themselves.Only geographically. No Indian is going to refer to themselves as "Asian".
Same reason that 75% of Hollywood is sequels and remixing. You have a better chance to make money using a proven product with name recognition than by making an entirely new product. White characters own the precedent to damn near all of Shakespeare and 95% of classic literature, sci fi, and comic books not to mention most of Hollywood history.....if you never allow non-white folk to mix those characters than White people are gonna stay dominating all the acting roles cause studios are gonna keep funding proven commodities. It's weird to me that people wanna remix white people to be diverse when its just like... you could create a newer more authentic character

Terminology. In Britain, the word "Asian" most frequently refers to people of South Asian ancestry (Pakistanis, Indians, Bangladeshis and Sri Lankans). This usage contrasts to that in the United States, where it is used primarily to refer to people of East Asian origin.
But that's kinda irrelevant in this case cause I'm pretty sure Kaling is referring to East Asian, not South Asian. She's playing her as a Chinese/Korean/Japanese character, not as an Indian one.
I'm physically in Asia right now and a country with loads of Indians, and I've never heard of them or anyone else refer to them as Asian. On the other hand, I can't speak for what 2nd and 3rd generation Indians refer to themselves as. Children of immigrants have some strange ass ideas in comparison to the people who actually live in their home country.
