No I can accept the opposing point, I already acknowledged she would bring in views. I just don't see the impact in her playing garbage minutes, it just wouldn't move the needle enough in my opinion. Appointment tv is turning it on when she starts the game and plays most of the game.

Ok I didn’t read the whole thread, I thought you were just saying it wouldn’t bring more attention to the sport.

But in any case, even if it isn’t a big impact she’d make, there would be some impact. I have friends and family that are into the Olympics and just sort of keeping up with the CC story. That group isn’t going anywhere near WBB games without her, but may check em out if she was there.

I’m also not saying they should just give her a spot because she’s famous either though. I just started watching the W this year, so I don’t really know what kind of gap there is between the 12th person on that team and her.

I mean tbh people don’t pay for cable like that anymore I’m not sure how much that play into it. Less games are televised. Why they going to put games on cable tv when people don’t pay for cable. The medal is a foregone conclusion. The goal shouldn’t be to win by 25 instead of by 20. The goal should be to get more people watching your sport so they will continue to watch and spend money, therefore increasing the status of the league and boosting EVERYONES bottom line.

This this THIS!!! Whoever made the teams should be taken somewhere and beaten. How in the hell don’t you include two of the most important women players when women’s basketball is arguably (I feel like it’s not even arguable) at the highest height it’s ever been.

Basketball seems like the one sport that gets GLOBAL love..this shyt would be like leaving Jordan and Magic off of the Dream Team. IMO that right there is what made the entire world fall in love with the NBA and I feel like Clark and Reese could have done that for the WNBA. Definitely a huge missed opportunity

they do, but ABC opted to air a game on Saturday night and give you 2 games on Sunday.

Sometimes ABC would air 2 in the day and then ESPN or NBATV would air 2 at night

THEY'RE NOT JORDAN AND MAGIC! That's the fukking problem. We're trying to talk this into existence today when they're not that yet. By 2028, that might very well be true, but they're not that now. It's not a missed opportunity cuz it'll be there in 2 years for FIBA world cup and in 4 years for an Olympics on home soil.

He has Ty Lue and Erik S with him, are you gonna say that all 3 combined are trash with rotations?

The US smashed the second best team, and did things like giving the two benched big men twice as much as time as the former mvp when they saw him struggling with the Fiba rules.

There was rotation, he just didn't fit the game plan.

If anything if he wasn't coaching he'd just rotate and let everyone play, let embiid stay in, give D white 2 minues, not have Jrue as one of the staples etc.

The older US hoops women are jealous.

Many of them have had illustrious high school, college and WNBA careers but they NEVER got the love Angel and CC are getting. Even someone like Griner had to go overseas and play ball just to earn some real paper. CC, Angel and this new crop might make enough $$$ with endorsements that they don't have to play overseas during the offseason.

I sorta understand the jealousy. It would be like people barely caring about the NFL when Brady was doing his thing but suddenly hyping Joe Burrow and acting like he walks on water. Not saying Diana Taurasi is TB12 (though Stewie could be considered almost GOAT-tier), but you can definitely see the hate.

They kept CC and Angel off the team because they didn't want the youngins taking the shine off the older players. It's unfortunate but......this will make people like Angel/CC more and it will lower the Q-Score of the vets. Taurasi in particular....because she was talking greasy during the NCAA tournament and is on this team despite being 40+.

All this does is make people love the young generation more and resent the old heads still hanging on.
