The older I get, the less I care about lyrics. As far as whether they have substance or not. Production, style, voice, rhyme scheme are more important.
You can rap about eating cereal and I'll bump it if you make it sound fly. As long as it's not super over the top or anti-Harlem

I see why you would deem this unpopular.
I find the opposite for myself - kinda.

Like - the older I get, the less I care about rhyme scheme/style/voice (I still care about production)
and the more I care about lyrics and substance. BUT - I don’t mean as much as it has to be social
commentary/“really saying something, maaan”...more so...

As you say, they could be rapping about cereal...but I want it to be some real chit about cereal. Lol
Like they rapping about how every once in a while they take it back and eat some King Vitaman
because it reminds them of when that’s all they could afford. That’s some chit real muthafuccas
can relate to. I wanna hear that chit.

Like DOOM or Big L?

Nas did numbers at one point he wasn’t a niche artist
They definitely would fit, but I don't think Doom is one of the best rappers either (RIP to him, still a underground legend).

Though honestly, I was thinking people even lower than them. Like when I see people who have K-Rino in a top 10 GREATEST list is wild to me. Best rappers list? Sure I could go for that. But greatest? Nah. Unless you talking about Texas rappers strictly.

Yea I don't fight it or question it. My ears want what they want. It's not that I don't appreciate substance, but if everything else isn't there I'm not gonna be that interested

Gucci Mane’s discography is horrendous and his stature as a music artist (not a icon) is overrated.

.Eminem is garbage the majority of the time

.Recovery is Em's best work

.Big isn't top 5

.Illmatic is not even Nas's best album much less the best HipHop album of all time remove Summer on smash and Life is good>Illmatic Magic better too

.Big L isn't a legend

.Sheek and Styles>>>>Jadakiss album wise

.Jim Jones the best member of Dipset

.Nasir should have been Nas's best album by far but it was trash(underwhelming to be fair)

.Das Efx's gibberish was and is garbage even if it does sound fire

.Street's Disciple is trash and American way has one of the WORST hooks in HipHop history, Lil Pump has better hooks

.The beat for Carry the cross is trash and sound like Eminem got a $80 Casio from toys r us and clicked one of the purple buttons to play a generic beat and he added drums to it

.New Eminem>old Eminem

.Griselda has more classics(as individual members) than The Lox

.Black America again>>>Be(actually BAA is a hair lower)

.Jim Jones might have the most classics In HipHop(on second thought hell no but he has atleast 3 or 4)

.every real spitter Eminem has rapped with is better than him lyrically with a few exceptions

.

TPAB isn’t an album with replay value

Gucci Mane is better now than at the height of his popularity

Lil Baby is horrible

New York Fell off trying to fit in with the south

Dre hasn’t made a good beat since Relapse

Production was better in the 90’s than now

Rapper and hip hop fashion is wild zesty today

Westside Gunn is best from Griselda

There is so such thing as culture vultures because the culture is for sale. And if there was a culture it was sold out long time ago. They don’t want gatekeepers then whine about Vlad and Adam22. Can’t have it both ways.

Benzino won the battle against Eminem

master p isn’t this great businessman as he claims to be

these are rappers are lying about the money they make but some of you believe it

I struggle to understand how people think this. WSG verses are insta skips for me. He barely even raps, it's more like sing rapping with his annoying habit of overly repeating the same lines. He's a hype man at best

1.) The Bay Area is more influential than L.A. Too $hort and Pac both weren’t even born and raised in Oakland. Eazy E’s favorite rapper was Short Dog. Snoop was influenced to rap by Richie Rich and 415. Too $hort was the first major rapper outside of NYC. Pac is considered the greatest rapper of all time and he almost exclusively collaborated with legendary Bay rappers outside of his Outlaw family on all his classic albums.:pachaha: The Bay kept innovating after the West Coast sound fell out of fashion as soon a song Pac died. DJ Mustard whole production style came from the Bay in the 2010’s. Detroit scene is influenced by the old school Bay sound that goes back to the early 80’s. They doing sideshows from Detroit to Baltimore now. Everybody steals Bay slang.

2.) AZ is more consistent than Nas in terms of quality. :ahh:AZ never dropped a straight up meh album like Nastradamus or Streets Disciple.

3.) Late 80’s lyrical Golden Era rap is mostly rapping about rapping in the most poetic way possible with very little real message. Rakim, DOC, Big Daddy Kane mostly exclusively rapped about nothing but rapping. It was so noticeable whenever one of these rappers dropped an actual message track (i.e. “The ghetto” by Eric B & Rakim). Public Enemy and NWA were never given the same lyrical praises as Rakim, Big Daddy Kane and DOC... yet the message in Public Enemy and NWA was much more hard hitting. :usure:

4.) Eminem is not a real rapper. He’s in the same lane as Weird Al Yankovic or Adam Sandler. He’s a parody rapper at best. He benefits from white privilege, being marketed as more authentic than Marky Mark or Vanilla Ice as well as the artificial credibility that comes with the Dre co-sign. “Ice Ice Baby” was better than any Eminem song. Marshall has no classic albums. Em is not from Detroit either, and he doesn’t even claim the D if you really pay attention, he reps Warren, MI. He is not of the culture at all. :hhh:

I think Boosie a gatekeeper.

I think Atlantic has insurance policies on their rappers.

I think you be a fool to be a rapper in a mainstream record company.

Boosie ain't no gatekeeper....

He didn't cower down about his comments that fakkit D. Wade letting Gabby use T. Wade for LGBT benefits.

Gatekeepers usually have to be in the "Go along to get along" gang.

Boosie will always have my support for not being spineless

Hip hip fans are generally against artists pushing the culture and experimenting..

I would love a bun b and dj premier album or a dj toomp collab album with jadakiss etc..

42 dugg is that nikka

Kodak Black is SEVERELY underrated..Some of his music is unfocused tho..

Keep it Thoro is one of the G.O.A.T. street singles
The real Lil Eazy-E:wow:

1. Drill Rap ain't the devil's music. People are just soft. if u don't like it, go listen to some gospel music and go to church if you're scared.

2. Lil Wayne is the GOAT. He should be up there with Jigga and Nas

3. Pusha T clowning Drake about his son and father was a part of Hip Hop. He verbally dissected him with that. Cats saying he went too far need to get off the pads.. y'all bytches gave Pac a pass for clowning Prodigy for having sickle cell, Jay-Z for leaving the condoms in the baby seat, and Cam for saying that he spent the day with Stan Spit on Mother's Day because his mom was dead:lolbron::lolbron::lolbron:.

4. Troy Ave should be commended for representing NYC and not riding the South's dikk by jacking their sound.

Gucci Mane is a wordsmith
Tupac got himself and Biggie killed doing too much

Tupac & Biggie wouldn't be held in such high regard if they were alive and are overrated massively due to being dead.

Jay Z & Nas also massively overrated.]

People (this forum) hate on Eminem because he is white and use his dwindling quality of output as an excuse for what is racism.

A rapper can be a grade A violent, despicable c*nt but because he is 'in Jail' the system is at fault and not the rapper. Thus giving birth to 'Free (insert rapper name here)' even though they are deservedly in jail for a crime that warrants it.

GOAT flow
Top 5 storyteller
Elite lyricist, not in a rappity rap lyrical miracle way but far as clarity, visual nature of rhymes, underrated wordplay, ability to connect and communicate with the audience
Effortless charisma and sense of humor

That enough?

Biggie’s flow and rhythm even meshed perfectly well to the pattern of snare drum solos of Bebop Jazz, you CAN’T get any more immaculate than that, you just can’t…..You really can’t :wow: That kneegrow you replied to don’t even know what the fukk he’s talking about :childplease:
